How long after NVA approval do they send notification to embassy abroad?

For example, say they approve us in October 215, what goes on AFTER that and when do they send paperwork or notification to Guyana (in our case) so that the embassy there can set an interview date; or do they set the date?


USCIS Stage


Marriage: 3/21/15


I-130 Sent: 5/03/15


NOA1: 5/08/15


NOA2 (approval): 10/26/15



NVC Stage (CR1)


NVC Received Case: 11/12/15


NVC Scan Date: 12/2/15


Paid AOS fee: 12/04/15


Paid IV fee: 12/04/15


AOS & IV Package sent: 12/16/15


NVC Case Complete: 1/26/16


Interview Date: 4/27/16


Interview Result: Approved!!!

Well if this is for a I-130 petition The petition doesn't leave NVC until you are assigned an interview.

The NVC doesn't approve anything.

They will send you case to the embassy or consulate after an interview has been booked.

Oh, ok. So it is the NVC that determines the interview date at the embassy abroad then?

Every month NVC gets the schedule of slots available for certain Visa types. They are putting case Complete Cases in those slots. They either stop when they run out of slots or run out of petitions/cases to put in. Most scheduling starts about last week of month to 1st week of next month. September should start sometime next week for some embassies.

After USCIS approves the i130, they will forward the case to NVC.

At NVC you will pay the AOS and IV fees and your will submit the AOS and IV packages. It will take more or less 6 months (approximately) to finish the NVC stage. Once your case gets completed, it will take NVC a month or so to schedule the embassy interview.

Ok, and WHO books that interview? Does an an agency in the states work with the embassy abroad to determine an open slot or is it solely on the embassy's based on their availability?

Ok, just saw your post AFTER I submitted my last post so you answered the question in part. Also, forgive me as I am new this and all these acronyms and abbreviations I am still trying to learn; things like "AOS" and "IV fees." lol

I'm still at NVC, but from what I understand, once NVC completes CR-1 review, they reach out to the embassy for upcoming month open slots, then schedule interviews based on embassy's workload. Someone with recent CR/R-1 interview can shed more light.

I'm not sure who notifies the beneficiary.. NVC or embassy.. or how (postal letter or email) ?
