Hi Gera,

Thanks for all of your help and guidance. It really helps. We are set up for our interview on 9/3. ASC biometrics is set up for 9/2. Do I have to fill out any more forms/docs? I booked our flight to arrive 8/31 at night and will do the medical on 9/1. What suggestions can you give me?

Thanks Again.

Rafael

You're welcome and glad to hear you are all scheduled in. No other forms will be needed at this point, aside from a contact and basic information sheet at the clinic. The only other recommendation that I can provide is scheduling the Medical exam online. I chose "Clinica Medica Internacional" which is a fairly new building and my fiancé (wife), had a pleasant experience. There is two other facilities nearby and you can choose any of the three but if you opt to go with the clinic mentioned, feel free to use the link below to schedule an appointment.

http://clinicamedicainternacional.com.mx/en/

Scheduling in advance is the process that I used and saved us the hassle of having to wait in line with everyone at 6 AM, when the doors open for business. (Appointment time will be received by email within 24 hours at latest) Your fiancé will need to present the passport, and the Consulate invitation letter at the medical facility.

The ASC/Biometrics will require your fiancé to present her passport, DS-160 confirmation sheet, Consulate invitation letter, and the interview/agenda confirmation sheet as well. (It should list the paid visa fee confirmation number)

Lastly, you might need (2) 2 x 2 passport style photos at the ASC/interview but in our case, they weren't even asked for. Stay positive, firm, and calm because I trust all will go well. :)

All the best and keep me posted.

-Gera

Cash/Debit/Credit cards are accepted at the Medical exam facility. The cost for a K-1 exam should be right around $190 USD.

I forgot to mention one more thing that is "key"...

Around the Clinic/ASC/Consulate area, there is a mall that has plenty of restaurants, shopping, etc. You might be approached by several people "supposedly" trying to help you with your visa needs, organize/fill out paperwork, and assist you with DHL setup, etc. Simply say "no gracias" and go about your route. Everything is already setup for you and those coyotes are a bunch of scam artists trying to make some $.

Hi Again,

I really appreciate your guidance. As you know this process is very stressful. As far as the interview itself, what can we expect?

Thanks,

Rafael

Hi Again,

Not a problem. As far as the interview goes, you will report to the "Sala de Espera" around 20 minutes prior to your scheduled time and there will be a line forming to check your fiancés paperwork that will be needed such as passport, sealed medical package, etc. You are not allowed to take any cell phones or sharp objects into the Consulate area once your fiancé is called upon with her group. There will be an officer or security guard that will be escorting the group next door to the Consulate. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask the staff in the Sala de Espera as they are quite friendly.

Once your fiancé is in the Consulate area, she will be sent to a lobby with chairs and given a number. (Similar to DMV)

When her number is called upon, the officer will swear her in and ask her questions in Spanish relating to your guys' relationship. It can vary from interviewing officer so answer as best as possible. My fiancé (wife) was asked where we met, where I lived, what I did for a living, and where we got engaged. According to my wife, the interviewing officer was very friendly and sparked up a conversation with her in regards to her plans for learning English, and since I handed my wife my US passport to take with her for extra incidentals to the interview, he mentioned the fact that it was great for my presence in the area to be in full support. The interview lasted about 5 minutes but mainly it was "small talk" conversation between my wife and officer. I highly encourage you to hand over your US passport to your fiancé and show it to the interviewing officer upon being called over to the interviewing window. (Scored points in our case)

I recommend that although the nerves did indeed hit us both on the night prior to the interview, stay positive, cool and calm. The interview process is a walk in the park as long as one remains calm and collective while being friendly/firm on responses. Upon finalizing the interview, she will be asked to go to another group of chairs that can vary in color, turn in her passport and be handed a "green sheet" for approval. Your fiancé might receive a warm "congratulations and welcome to the USA" from the final processing station as well.

There is nothing to fear, hang in there and fully support your fiancé in this matter since all will turn out to your guys' favor! :)

Good Morning,

We will be heading out to Juarez this weekend, everything is set up and all of our docs are in need of sorting out. Do you know where I can find how to properly order the documents?

Thanks,

Hello again,

I'm not aware of any how-to organize your docs for Juarez guide but here is what you will need...

ASC - Passport, Juarez invitation letter, DS-160 confirmation page and (2) 2x2 passport style photos (May not be needed but I recommend to have on-hand)

Medical - Passport, and Juarez invitation letter. (Cash or debit card for approximately $190 USD)

Interview - Passport, Juarez invitation letter, Birth certificate, Medical results in sealed black/dark brown bag (DVD/CD is not needed), (2) 2x2 passport style photos, I-134 affidavit, evidence photos/documents, paystubs, bank statements from US citizen, and most recent Tax transcript. I highly recommend that you provide your fiancé with your US passport in order to present it to the IO (Interviewing Officer) so that they are aware of your presence while scoring major points.

Best of luck and remember to continue about your business while avoiding the coyotes outside of the consulate area that will try to persuade you into any assistance.

Safe travels and I trust all will go well for you guys!!! :)

Good Afternoon,

I've been off the radar for a while, luckily everything went smoothly in Juarez. We are now in LA starting off our new lives. I just want to clarify if my fiance has to change her last name when we get married? I believe immigration will giver her her residency using her maiden name with my last name. Any suggestions?

Again thanks for all of your guidance during the interview process, it was truly helpful.

Thanks,

Rafael

Hello again,

Glad to hear that all went smoothly in Juarez. When you mentioned the term LA, I got bummed out because I am a big time DODGERS fan and we flat out wasted another shot at a World Series appearance yet again, LOL. Ya que!

To answer your question: My wife took on my last name when we got married and bypassed her last name completely. You can go your route and she can hyphenate your last name while keeping hers but make sure that you submit it as you'd like when you go in for the marriage license. For example if her maiden name is Garcia and yours is Ramirez, list it as...

Maria Garcia-Ramirez or Maria Ramirez-Garcia

It is your guys' choice but also make sure that you represent the same new name that she takes on upon marriage when you submit the Adjustment of Status (AOS) paperwork.

Suerte and may God bless your upcoming marriage/new lives in the US. :)

Hello All,

I called NVC for case number and received it. I tracked it on CEAC today and it shows "In Transit" to Juarez Mexico, however I'm a bit confused since it states "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center". I was under the impression I had to request interview with embassy in Juarez. Is there anything I should do at the moment or should I wait to receive the letter from NVC? I appreciate any help in advance.

Thanks

Rafael

Can someone tell me what CEAC is? I didn't hear of that before. Thanks a lot!

Good Afternoon,

My fiance and I have "made it official" and we are now working towards her AOS. However, I have been having problems obtaining her i94 number from the CBP website. We entered through the Otay Mesa crossing in a car, I dont know if that has anything to do with her i94 number not showing up on the website. I even entered my information and nothing comes up. Any suggestions as to how to proceed?

Thanks,

Hi,

We got our K1 Visa approved on November 5 and my Fiancé got the NOA2 hard copy already via post in Tampa were he lives.

I started calling NVC to get our case number this week. They still don't have it in their system but I know we might get it soon. From reading on this forum I'm assuming I might not get a letter from the consulate in Juarez here at my hoe in Mexico City, but my Fiancé will get a letter from the consulate. Is that correct?

I have a couple of extra questions about things we can start getting before we get our case number. Since the dates of the document will be prior to the date the case number is assigned by the NVC, I don't know if that might be a problem when I have the interview in Ciudad Juarez.

I hope you can help:

1. Can I go ahead and get my certificate for no criminal records?

2. Should my Fiancé go ahead and ask for the letter of his employer, to accompany the Affidavit of support?

Talking about the Police records, is it ok if I only get a Federal certificate ir do I also need to get a State certificate?

And finally about the medical and Vaccinations. If I have my records from when I got vaccinated as a child is this enough or should I get the new vaccination card and put there my old registry of the vaccinations I got as a kid?

Thanks in advance for all your help :)

Alex and I have been friends for 23 years. We met in Mexico City and kept in touch as our friendship grew. Hello,

In my case, USCIS approved i129F June 22. NVC received my packet around July 10 (approximately) and it took them about 1 week to send packet to Juarez. Juarez received my case the first week of August and I received my invitation letter approximately in 1 week. My Fiance did not receive any documents in Mexico, I believe the only document they might receive is the invitation letter to Juarez but that usually is after the interview has been done (mail service in Mexico is not too reliable as you may know).

To answer your questions, my fiance did have a copy of her certificate of no criminal record but we have been told it is not needed, We took it anyways to avoid any surprises once there. Her certificate was very simple and it was just from the state where she lived. If you have a federal letter I believe it should be no problems. I filled out the i-134 and submitted a copy of my last income tax (2014) and didnt have any issues. You can go ahead and have your fiance ask for his employer letter for employment verification but it may not be necessary. In our case, we took as much documents as possible. It's better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them.

As for the vaccines, my fiance had a medical done and they took a blood sample. No vaccines were given until we submitted her AOS for her residency. If you have all your vaccines in order, odds are you wont need to be vaccinated when you do AOS.

Hope this helps.

Have a great day,

Rafael
