I used the USCIS number. There should be a link or explanation on the side of that field explaining which number to use.

There is an option to "ADD" another so I am wondering if the Immigrant Visa Case Number from NVC should be added???

I don't remember an add button, but if you did that, I don't think you would break the DoS system! Lol!

The embassy knows that your USCIS petition number starts with three letters that identify the service center and that your NVC number identifies your embassy, so they won't be confused. Your NVC number will link up with the DS-160 anyhow, so if you do add the NVC number, it's an unnecessary step, but not a detrimental one.

I'm hoping someone in this string can help me with a DS 160 question as well. I spoke with the embassy in Santo Domingo, she told me to go online and find my case and then I could schedule my interview. I went on there but it directs me to fill out the DS 160. Who am I filling the information out on, myself the US citizen or my Fiance? I got 3/4 of the way through it and it starts asking for someone else's info so I started entering mine and it said do I have children im bringing to the US with me? I stopped at that point totally confused. Also why is it asking for all the same info from the original petition? should they already have all of this. Thanks, any help would be appreciated

The DS-160 should be filled out by the beneficiary (the non us citizen). It asks you the same question because the DS-160 is pretty much the same form for all visa types though some are more set towards the K1. It's just easier for them to have these questions to look through then to read through your whole package they received from USCIS to find the answers.

You can fill out the DS-160 on behalf of your fiance but he/she needs to electronically sign for it. It's not that high tech, it just asks here to type his/her name in the box and press submit.

If it uses my Petition Number, can I fill out the DS 160 before NVC forwarded my case to the embassy?

I think you can. I waited until my status changed to "Ready" just in case. It turned out to be good because I was able to complete it before that system glitch and our interview didn't need to be rescheduled. I can't recall anything in the DS-160 that would have prevented me from filling it out before that time, though.
