The competition is tough for the Darwin awards this year. What makes people think these acts will work out well? Liquid or chemical courage is my bet.

By my count, we are up to five obvious candidates, three shooting fireworks (Maine, Michigan and Texas), a guy going for a swim with alligators (Texas), and an invincible guy on a Harley running from the cops.

Here is the latest fireworks candidate from Texas.

Seems there is a never ending supply of candidates for the Darwin Awards. Not sure that's really a good thing though.

Sure it is. Would you want them in the genepool?

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.
2011: Realized we needed to evaluate our status as friends when we realized we were talking about raising children together.

2011/2012: Decided we were a couple sometime in, but no possibility of being together due to being same sex couple.

June 26, 2013: DOMA overturned. American married couples ALL have the same federal rights at last! We can be a family!

June-September, 2013: Discussion about being together begins.

November 13, 2013: Meet in person to see if this could work. It's perfect. We plan to elope to Boston, MA.

March 13, 2014 Married!

May 9, 2014: Petition mailed to USCIS

May 12, 2014: NOA1.
October 27, 2014: NOA2. (5 months, 2 weeks, 1 day after NOA1)
October 31, 2014: USCIS ships file to NVC (five days after NOA2) Happy Halloween for us!

November 18, 2014: NVC receives our case (22 days after NOA2)

December 17, 2014: NVC generates case number (50 days after NOA2)

December 19, 2014: Receive AOS bill, DS-261. Submit DS-261 (52 days after NOA2)

December 20, 2014: Pay AOS Fee

January 7, 2015: Receive, pay IV Fee

January 10, 2015: Complete DS-260

January 11, 2015: Send AOS package and Civil Documents
March 23, 2015: Case Complete at NVC. (70 days from when they received docs to CC)

May 6, 2015: Interview at Montréal APPROVED!

May 11, 2015: Visa in hand! One year less one day from NOA1.

The fact that there is a never ending supply means that there are already a lot of them in the gene pool. Which as I said is not a good thing.

I work with and deal with people everyday that make me wonder how they manage to roll out of bed without killing themselves, the gene pool is flooded.

And never ending Gofundme campaigns.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I would have to add that guy in Missouri that got high and tried to take a cops gun, to the list

Certainly a worthy candidate. Also, there was an NFL player playing with fireworks losing a couple of fingers. I guess he gets honorable mention for the time being.

As long as people do not try and legislate people's stupidity....

I agree that we don't need any more gov't. in people's lives, in my opinion we already have too much. But there was a time not too long ago, when stupidity was "policed" by the public and for the most part the foolishness was held to a minimum. Back in the day you could actually tell someone they were being stupid, and usually other people would agree with you and you would more than likely get some results. Nowadays you tell someone they are being stupid and you are branded as a bully. The person that speaks up against the stupidity ends up being the bad guy. It's PC run amuck and it's pretty ridiculous. So for the last few decades or so the stupid people are not being told that they are stupid, instead they are coddled and told that they are special. These stupid people go on to breed more stupid people, and now society is flooded with a bunch of self important morons running around that have no respect for anyone but themselves and they think that their ridiculous behavior is the norm. I'm not sure what can be done to fix this derailment of common sense and morals, but it's only going to get worse with each generation. The Darwin pool is going to get much larger before it gets smaller.

Much evidenced by the way VJ is run...
