I think the best thing to do at this point it is to come clean (with mom) and hope for the best.

You have no job, you mentioned your husband is the "fixer" around the house and I think booking and paying for a room for 10 days would put a strain that you don't need at the moment. I would rather confront my mom about it than getting in a financial issue... but it is only my opinion.

Cultural differences... what might seem totally unacceptable for some is perfectly ok with another.

Without good communication with your spouse things can be difficult. You say " I am not happy about this at all " Talk to him in a loving and kind manner Explain in a way that he understands...

"There is an expectation that once you get to America that you must help those back home. Which is fine in theory....meaning if you have the means to do so. We do NOT have the means at this time. Just go to your husband. And explain to him that you guys are staying at moms and its not right that you invite anyone else to come stay till u get your own place,tell him it will be better. To get a hotel. For 10 days and and Make a suggestion to your husband. That its ok for him to stay at hotel with cousin ,so he want be alone at hotel. I know. Its not right. For him to invite. People. To stay. When he dont have his own. Place, but its also not right to take someone who is comming from different. Country and put them at hotel by them self ,

When I visit Korea, my relatives are quite welcoming us to stay at their house,

even when I'm traveling on business and company is paying for hotel & food.

I think they feel they are not doing their duty if they don't accommodate me.

And of course, I do the same when they visit US.

So I think this all depends on local culture, individual's preference,

and how well you are liked by your families and friends.

One catch is, when you visit or stay in another relatives house,

it's not completely free. It's a courtesy to bring a very nice gift

and you participate in some of the house chores (like cooking and cleaning up

after yourself to not burden them)
