SLEC Refusal to Release Results

Hi Everyone,

I just finished my medical exam today after what must have been a full 30 minutes of heated argument with the counter at the ground floor of SLEC. SLEC insists that I show them the original NVC letter stating my MNL case number or the e-mail from NVC showing our case number or they will not administer the medical exam. I've explained to the ignorant guy at the counter that as to date, my fiance and I still haven't received anything from NVC and we got our case number through a phone call but we have already been advised that our application has reached the USEM and ready to schedule our interview. In the end, SLEC allowed me to take the medical exam but says that they will withhold the results until I comply this requirement.

My fiance and I have called and sent emails to NVC more than what our gmail accounts could count for this request and still nothing. They keep on saying to just wait for the letter and have been incredibly unhelpful. I am terribly frustrated and don't know what to do!

I've also resorted to reaching out to the Embassy regarding this and still waiting for a reply. I'm afraid that if I wait for the actual NVC letter it would take 6 millions years to actually get to my house and I'd miss my July 27 interview!

Anyone who has ever experienced this? Ugh! What am I going to do?

Anxious and angry at SLEC,

Lena

sorry to hear that. .. it surprised me that they seem to be strict now regarding docs to show them. I'm going to have my medical exam next week and I'm not really worried about not having nvc letter or an email from nvc showing the mnl case no. coz I heard that other docs beside the nvc letter will be enough but guess I'm wrong :( We have not yet receive our nvc letter too! Don't even know if the letter will arrive :(

SLEC website states what is required.

Interview letter from the National Visa Center (NVC) or Visa Interview Appointment Confirmation from the Embassy

Principal Applicant - original & 1 photocopy

Derivative - 1 photocopy

If Interview letter or Visa Interview Confirmation was received via email, print 2 copies for the principal applicant and 1 copy for each derivative

Also you will need a copy of your DS160.

call for there supervisor

If she has not followed the instructions as posted why does she need a supervisor?

It clearly appears to me that the necessity to present what is required is on her and not SLEC.

Just my opinion.

thanks for the info greenbaum. I worried coz I thought the op means the visa interview confirmation letter and ds 160 was not enough. Now I can breathe easily as I have those two that will cover the missing nvc letter :)

If your case is indeed ready for an interview, then you should have scheduled it online and printed the confirmation which you can show to SLEC. Another option is print a screen-printed READY notice from CEAC. Both of these were used by my son or the docs he presented at SLEC. You're still lucky that they allowed you in and had your medical. I have read cases where they weren't allowed in at all since they don't have the I/L or any letter from NVC.

Just in case you were not aware of the link - here's the CEAC site where you put in your case number and get the status to be screen printed:

My fiance went in with the confirmation letter and DS-160 and they were still bent out of shape for her not having the NVC letter. They made her write in that she didn't have it and told her that if she has issues at the embassy it isn't their fault. She got approved with no issues though. Maybe a bunch of new people working there now...

I'm of the frame of mind that there are new people at SLEC. Explain that most times the letter never arrives. So print off the requirements from their website and present. Just stand your ground respectfully.

Hi all,

In response, the USEM advised to just print off the CEAC status (the one that says "ready") to show to St. Lukes. But I repeat, SLEC WILL ASK YOU to submit any letter that shows your case number. I'm glad that USEM advised this even if this option was NEVER offered by SLEC nor are they knowledgeable about the fact that the NVC letter can take months or even years to get to your house because of how crappy our postal system is. And that we do not magically formulate our case number!

I'm happy I got my results today after showing them my CEAC status (after an explanation of course that I haven't received my NVC letter yet and this is what the Embassy advised).

So tip, if you haven't received it, print off your CEAC status! SLEC will refuse to release the results if you do not show them that you have a legit MNL case number!

Their website does show a requirement of the NVC letter (original or email) with no option to present anything else if this is not available. My fiance and I have done everything we can for NVC to respond to our request even just an email but nada! So after weeks of waiting, I decided to head to SLEC and explained about my situation...and the rest is history.

You're right, it's definitely tough that they do not know that this letter almost always never arrives and that NVC may not be most helpful at times (lucky me!). I would totally suggest that they list in their website that if the NVC letter is not available, a printed CEAC status can be presented instead.
