Your ESTA is still valid if you cancel your visa interview. It's only if you're denied a visa that you can't travel under the VWP program.

There are two outcomes to a visa application, approval or denial, if you no show it is a denial.

If this is your situation then all you need to do is update ESTA.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Depends on how far you got, sounds like you have done everything but interview.

Yes I had an interview scheduled. But I realized that I don't need the Visa the ESTA is enough. So I went on the site and canceled my appointment. So you think that now my ESTA is not valid anymore?

ESTA should be valid. You cancelled your visa interview appointment. ESTA only asks if you have been denied entry or been denied a visa before. Neither of which is true.
