I have an approved I-130 (F2A category, married to an LPR) and waiting for my priority date (Feb 23, 2014) to become current. I entered United States legally with an F-1 visa in 2008. I am currently in an F-1 student status. My country (Nepal) was given temporary protected status. I want to apply for TPS as I qualify for it. My question is does this affect in anyway during my adjustment of status process later when my priority date becomes current? If the answer is NO, then considering that TPS was granted what should I put in "current USCIS status" in I-485 form? Is it F-1 student (that is what I put in I-130 form) or TPS?

Why not keep it simple and stay in F1 status?

Don't just apply for it because you can. My understanding was like this. TPS is for Nepal nationals legally in the U.S. who need to stay but otherwise may have not been able to. It doesn't seem you are in danger of being out of status. You're married to an LPR. TPS is something that would have to be renewed every so often but you are already in the process of gaining permanent residence. Keep up with the process you are in.
