Good morning everyone!

My name is Kay and I'm visiting this site for support and information. My fiance lives in Jamaica and I am a US citizen. We have set a wedding date for June of next year but my dilemma is this- I've seen a lot of information about bringing your fiance to the US on a K visa to get married, but we want to get married in Jamaica (on the beach!)...

So, how can we get married in Jamaica and have him return to the US with me to wait out his processing period?

Someone on this site must have some information that they can share. I look forward to taking this journey with all of you!

-Kay

there is no getting married in Jamaica do a K1 and go to the USA to wait out the process. k1 visa is a fiancé visa. so if you want to have your wedding in Jamaica next year k1 would be a good way but must stay unmarried. you would apply for k1 visa which is a fiancé visa, come to the states get married in a court , you do not have to have a wedding in the states, you can both fly back to Jamaica and have a wedding on a beach by next year june. win win!!

If you want to get married in Jamaica, then you will do spouse visa.

Fiance visa is for someone to come to US and marry a US citizen within 90 days.

The spouse visa takes about 1 year, and fiance visa takes about 8 to 10 months.

There is no easy way that I know of where you can get married in Jamaica

and bring him back to US immediately.

USCIS needs to go through full due diligence on checking you and his eligibility and qualification,

and verify that your marriage is not a fraud. With tens of thousands of people applying for spouse

(and other) visas ahead of you, it will take about 1 year of processing. If you get questioned for

more information/evidence, then add months more to the processing.

For k1, you'll need to at least have a civil ceremony here first. For us, we are having two weddings (not including the civil ceremony). We'll be getting married civilly hopefully soon (we're waiting to have the visa in hand). Then a wedding celebration here later then a celebration in his country - Ecuador. However, keep in my mind that once having a civil ceremony here and filing your paperwork, it can take up to 90 days to receive the AP (meaning he can leave the country). If you're going to plan for a wedding there, you may want to give yourself a good chunk of time! K1s are unpredictable. Even with the current transfers, it can take anywhere from 3 months to a year total, depending on your service center's speed, your consulate, etc. Then it will take 3 months from your filing after the civil ceremony to get the AP in hand! So just give yourself enough time. They say don't make solid plans so far in advance, but if you give yourself a lot of time, you should be okay. Just be prepared for a wait, even if it ends up taking less.

Good luck & welcome! :)

If u want to get married in Ja u can do a spousal visa think its called a CR-1 this normally takes a longer filing time compared to the K-1 Fiance visa.

Spousal visa.. you get married in jamaica and file and upon entery to the US the spouse will get their GC.

K-1 visa... You file i-129F giving concrete proof of a bonifide relationship, if youre approve then your fiance come to the US and you have to get married within 90day then file Adjustment of Status (AOS).

Sorry if this is not clear enough. Im not too verse on these info.. still you can check here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/and read about the two Visa that was mentioned.
