Can I start to work as soon as I get my EAD card before updating my SSN?

Hi everyone,

Just a little question probably silly but I am wondering... Can I start to work as soon as I will get my EAD card and that even before I will have my SSN updated?

I mean I have a job offer and I would like to start as soon as I will have the right to work and I know that if I wait to go to the SSA first to update my SSN status it will add a few days or even more to get it done (I came here on a K1 visa so I already have a SSN but for now it still clearly states that I can not work without the work authorization).

So am I ok to start to work on Monday if let's say I would get my EAD card the day just before (that is an example of course just to explain why I mean ;) )? And if only a few days later i will go update my SSN status?

Your word authorisation is the EAD; if you already have a social security number you do not need to go to the SSA and update anything.
