Driving?

Never been a fan of driving but a year ago I threw caution to the wind, went out and bought a car. My friends all pitched in a helped me when they could in the quest to help me get a driving licence. 3 weeks after getting said car I met my partner and she asked if I would like to visit knowing it would take a few month to save up to get there I started working 12 hour shifts so no one was really available to teach me. Having visited Idaho it became apparent pretty quickly that I need a driving licence. The question is what do we need to obtain a driving licence is this done after AOS or can you learn anywhere that wouldn't be classed as a offence.

If you do not have a full UK license and really have never driven (much) before, you're going to have to refer to your state program for obtaining a license. That usually has different steps before having a full license, classes and training, hours spent learning, and finally a test. If you had already obtained a foreign license, obtaining a US one is usually straightforward and doesn't require much of the things a new driver would have to do. But in your case, you'd be starting from scratch. For that state you'll need to prove being here lawfully -- so it looks like your passport, I94, EAD or GC would all count for that. So yes, it's something you'll need to do during or after the AOS process. Some states will give you a list of accepted or offer driving training courses. There are plenty of companies that offer it too and are accepted as complete training. My county offered the required courses through our community college. You'd have to go to the local DMV to find out more.
