can you and only you,

get into the hospital,

and talk with every single social worker there?

there's bound to be 1 social worker that will sit down with you and get it all done within an hour.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Um ok so the red number was a bust-

did you try the general help line for your county?

Gwinnett Helpline 770.995.3339

Look heres the thing- when you call a number like that and they say we cant help you we only do blah blah or etc etc. Then instead of saying okay and hanging up- you say can you give me the number to the place that can help me??

Most if all places listed like that have a general list of phone numbers to refer you to. You are looking for the place to go to to apply for medical benefits. It shouldnt be this hard.

Try calling the general helpline. If they can not tell you how to apply for medical aid in your county (which is unlikely) then call the hospital and ask. If they can not assist you over the phone then like Darnell suggested- go to the hospital in person and ask for assistance. They should be able to give you the location and phone number of the welfare office in your county.

I say "welfare office" because thats a slang term for what they are called but they can call it something else. Its the place where one would go to apply for medical or cash/food assistance. Tell them that you are looking for that place specifically and someone should be able to direct you to it.

After the hospital sent her a bill (almost $5000), she was on the system and now has a patient number. Now with that number she can apply for assistance. Nobody at the hospital told us that. And yes, I went back to the hospital and no one could help. We went to the government office who handle Medicaid and other government assistance, and they also said they couldn't help, and suggested going online and trying getting emergency Medicaid (she said it would take between 45 to 60 days before she could get approved though, of which would be too late).

She went to the library and tried applying anyways, but found no emergency Medicaid for this state.

We finally found a doctor who will see her without asking for so much money up front, but she was only able to get it for next Thursday.

Her elbow seems to have healed, I just hope now that it heeled properly.

Is been petty hard, I'm taking extra shifts to compensate, and have to help her at home, so couldn't really help her much chasing the doctor or the government programs.

If she had her visa, she could just have gone to Brazil.

She couldn't even get her passport. Couple days ago she got a notice in the mail saying she needed another birth certificate, because hers didn't have her parents name, so we are gonna have to chase that as well.

I'll still try all the options suggested, not very hopeful anymore though...
