India work experience and education don't count for much in the US. Would help to keep expectations manageable, and work your way up like most of us.

You should think through what kind of area you want to focus on, investing banking is very different from working for say a finance function in a large corporation. You should also research the expectations and benefits of these roles by talking to some recruiters. For example, I personally know friends who were in investment banking, who found the pace very demanding, you may be paid quite a good salary, but you're working long hours everyday, including weekends, in a very competitive environment. They ultimately left the industry because it was not worthwhile for them not to have a good work/life balance, and when you calculate the pay per hours worked, it was not great. Think about how you want to use your MBA, which areas you want to focus on, I think it's great that you were in a teaching role before, however, a lot of US companies place emphasis on how you've practically applied the knowledge from the courses, as the other posters said, if you can't demonstrate that up front, you may have to start with a lower level position than what you're expecting in order to build up experience.

By the way, some large corporations also offer internships for MBA graduates, while this may sound too low level, in some cases, the program is designed for the company to "test you out" before hiring on a permanent basis, and the interns are actually working on important business deals.
