I-864 sponsorship and school

My husband has been in the US for 3 years and has legal permanent residency. When we filed to bring him here I had to have a friend sponsor hin because I did not make enough income. He is wanting to go to school now and has applied for student aid. My question is, will his sponsor be accountable in any way financially if my husband is approved?

Thank you for your help. :)

No, the sponsor has no liability for his tuition. It is only if your husband collects a means tested benefit from the government. And the government would sue you (the petitioner and primary sponsor) first before they would go after the joint sponsor.

Thank you so much for your quick response. You are very kind. Now we can relax knowing we are not doing anything illegal. Have a fun and blessed day! ^_^
