Hi.. hope someone can fill me in on some information..

I called NVC today and was given a case number and IIN#. I also asked the nice lady... do she know if the case have been sent to the US consulate in taiwan.

the lady answered No case has not been sent yet.. so since I got the case number and IIN# do I only call DOS from now on ? and ask for update status of case being received at the US consulate in taiwan ?

or just sit tight and wait for the letter ? I like to be proactive if I can... to prepare for next step.

Thanks

What you'll do is use this site:

https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

You use the "Immigrant" section to check the status, but you will fill out the DS-160 under the "Non-Immigrant" section when the petition gets there (or when your instructions direct you to fill it out)

For our embassy, we have to pay cash USD, so our Invoice# is useless. Some embassies seem to have an online payment option or method, so you will want to see the payment method for your embassy. Also, you can see from my signature, that the ceac.gov status updates during your DoS movement.
