Strange Call to my US Fiance

Hi Everyone. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

My US fiancée received a voice-mail on Thursday from a guy called Kevin stating that his fiancé in the UK had received some correspondence in the mail from the UK consulate that was ours. My fiancée called this Kevin guy and it was arranged for my fiancée to then email Kevin with my contact telephone number so his UK fiancé could arrange to meet me so I could go and pick it up. When I didn't hear from her I proceeded to call the US embassy in London. According to the Embassy my Packet 3 has not yet been sent out to me and that they had not even sent me any correspondence anyway. So now I am confused. Anyway my fiancée got back in touch with Kevin and to find out what the problem was with contacting me to make arrangements to go get my property, to which he replied that all his fiancé was waiting for was the letter she received (with my letter) and that was all she was waiting for so booked a flight and she was now in the US. So we have no clue as to what was sent or where it is. All we can assume is that the letter she received in the mail was from NVC with our case number and letting us know that our case was on its way to the UK. But confused again......... her letter was sent from the US Embassy in London. So does NVC send notice of our case number to me or my US fiancée. BTW we called NVC before this happened and got our case number over the phone. And if the Embassy is saying that they have NOT sent me anything in the post yet, my question is "What on earth did this other woman receive in the post with mine and my fiancée's details on it?

Any advise would be greatly appriciated

The NVC mails a notice to the US petitioner. Those are usually slow to go out and the case could easily be in London before the NVC notifies the US fiancé. My best guess is that it was your letter of instruction from the embassy. That is the first piece of mail a UK beneficiary would receive from London. Somebody must have goofed up the mailing.

The information that is least believable is what the embassy said. You can't call the embassy in London and expect to get decent information by phone. It is usually the non-immigrant people you might get on the phone. In the past they have confused a lot of people because they don't know K1 information. So they start talking and it sounds correct, but they are actually not the people who have your case. It is the Immigrant Visa Unit that you need to contact and that is done by using the online visa contact form.

You don't really need the letter. I am sure you have read in the UK forum how to proceed and have the link to your K1 instructions. Just get started on the London part. It's time, based on what you have described and the dates in your timeline.

Thanks for the reply. I have heard a few similar dealings with the embassy, I will find the online form and contact them just to confirm, and yes, I do have a checklist printed off so will go with that :)
