Surname and Given Name-Please HELP

HI,

Scenario:

I-130 filed with only (one) first name as-MAHRUKH

NOA1 mentioned beneficiary name as- MAHRUKH with No Given Name.

Birth Certificate has her name as MAH RUKH( there is a space in btw)

Now my wife is applying for her passport and the officer advised her to write both surname and given name in her passport

as surname: RUKH and Given name as MAH. If we look at her birth certificate it kind of seems like two names( MAH and RUKH) and for that reason her passport should have the same but then her I130 has only MAHRUKH with NO GIVEN NAME.

Can't think properly what to write in her passport.

Please advise.

Have you gotten an answer to this? We have a similar situation. In my fiance's tazkira and handwritten passport, he only has one name and when we submitted the petition, we cut his name in two. I asked the embassy if we can change his name on his new passport he will need to get, but they instructed us not to get a new machine readable passport at this time. However, we can't get MRP since the embassy has his tazkira.

We want to add a new last name for him in his new passport, but we don't know if that will cause any problem with getting our visa issued. I know that for those that don't have a given name, the embassy will give the visa as FNU, or first name unknown, however, this will be on all your official US documents until you get your name legally changed in US. Since my guy and I will get married here, we change change his name if we need to at that time. However, a name change at our county can be expensive without a new marriage.

I think you need to contact the embassy and explain the issue clearly and ask them what you need to do so as not to cause problems in your visa process. Let me know what you find out!!
