Address Change

Hello,

We got our NOA 2 on 22nd May and hoping to get our DOS number early next week. My fiancee (the USC) is filling out the I-134, Affidavit of Support and then will post over to me. She will move house in about two weeks time.

I just wanted to check that she should put the new address rather than her current on the I-134 as at time of interview she would have already moved?

I may also be moving in a couple of weeks time as well back to my parents for the time being. Does that mean we still both need to inform USCIS of address changes for both of us?

I don't really think it matters a whole lot what address she puts on the I-134. It doesn't generate mail she would miss if she had moved. She can match up to what you put as the location where you will live in the US when you do your forms.

USCIS doesn't really need an address change. You are pretty much done with them as soon as TSC hands off your case to the Dept of State (NVC and Embassy). It is important for her to receive the paper copy NOA2. Will she have that before she moves? That is a reason for her to inform USCIS, but they probably wouldn't get it right anyway since you are days before the end with them.

Your address change could affect where your embassy letter of instruction goes. But again, being right in the middle of when things are happening, it may not get changed anyway. She could try telling USCIS, or catching it at NVC the few days it's there. You don't actually need the physical letter if it happens to go by the wayside. You know the instructions they are going to mail. I personally wouldn't bother as it won't slow your visa process of you don't have the paper letter. Embassy contact form might also work--"I have moved and need my instruction letter sent to XYZ."

When you do the DS-160 online is an opportunity to put in new addresses. Then your interview letter will go to where you will be. It is needed as your "ticket" into the embassy.

As far as actual visa delivery, that's whatever you arrange with the courier when you pay for the visa and pick home or depot delivery. You say where delivery should be at that point.

Thanks Nich-Nick, she doesn't move for another two weeks, and the NOA 2 was 22nd May so she should get it through the post soon. I'll have mail forwarding set-up on my current address, the problem is that my parents (of where I'm staying) are due to move in Mid-July too *head-slap*! They'll have mail forwarding too so I'll see where I am when I come to fill in the DS-160. Talk about everything happening at once!

US government mail is not forwarded. Scratch that plan. There are ways to compensate if your interview letter goes astray. You will be fine.
