Introducing ourselves (K-1 Visa, Philippines)

I'm Jonathan, and my fiancee Elaine is from the Philippines. We've known each other for about 2.5 years, but only really turned from friends to romance in 2015. As of last week, we've started the K-1 visa process by sending in Form I-129F. In April, I went to the Philippines to meet Elaine's family and formally ask their blessing to marry her, then officially asked her to marry me, so although we had already discussed marriage before then, we're only officially engaged since April.

Initially, we were going to submit all the forms ourselves, but during the last days of my visit we encountered another American gentleman who was in the same process with his own Filipina fiancee, and he recommended the RapidVisa agency to us, so after doing some research on them we decided to use them for the process.

So far, the biggest single challenge we've encountered is figuring out how to fit a Filipino street address into the USCIS forms. The I-129F and G-325A form could really use some adjustment to account for non-American-style addresses. Some of the spaces provided are really small, and it took several rounds of effort to actually manage to fit the number of characters while hopefully still being a functional mailing address.

As of this post, I'm still waiting for the NOA-1 to arrive, but hopefully that will happen very soon.

welcome! I was having the same problem with my street address as well. I ended up writing it by hand instead because I could not, for the life of me figure out how to edit it on the computer for my entire address to fit in that small space. I hope everything works out for you and your fiance! Good day!

When we were filling the forms out ourselves, we did that, with my fiancee doing the writing because she has very small and neat handwriting. But for RapidVisa agency, they use an online form, so we had to go through a half dozen rounds of trying different things and asking questions. We finally got something they were satisfied with that hopefully will still work for the necessary mails to reach her. Right now we're still in the initial petition process so we won't find out if that works for a little while yet. We're hoping it goes smoothly.

Good Day!

Me and fiancé were on k1/k2 process as I have a son. Known him for 8 years as he was my manager on my prev job. We become bf/gf last November 2012.We live together for 20mons (abroad). After completing my contract, and it's my vacation. He said he will file a leave too so we can stay in California together as I have a c1 visa, I could stay for a month, but because I have a son waiting...I stayed just a week there. I met his family. Then I don't expect Anything on our relationship....didn't expect at all...I just thought or relationship will end up there. A day before my flight to PI, he asked me to go to Oceanside ca...I enjoyed the view...a lot of Filipino fishing.. Ofcourse we Pinoy love taking selfies lol...I asked him to take a picture with the nice view then I was shocked he proposed. I was the happiest person on earth lol, now, I'm back here in PI. He started the papers last feb 2015.

We received our noa2 last May 12. I wonder how long we will wait on the next step? I guess that is where we get our Manila case? Then interview?

I think maybe you meant to make your own post rather than reply to mine. :) I'm brand new myself, so I'm not qualified to answer the question with specifics, but it looks looks like on the time trends page it takes 2-4 weeks after NOA2 to get notification that the NVC has your file. You can see the time trends page here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1historical We're still at the NOA1 stage ourselves. Maybe one of the admin who welcomed me earlier can give you more of an idea.

I'd also suggest clicking on the Immigration Timelines menu item up top, and setting up your own timeline. After I set up mine, I could see some estimates and such showing for processing dates that might help you. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/

You might also try posting the question in the K-1 visa specific forums here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/80-k-1-fiancee-visa-process-procedures/

You could also put your USCIS case number into the myUSCIS status request form, and see if it gave you any further information. Form can be found here: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

Hi Jackie,

I'm new to the process also, so you might want to post your question over in the K-1 visa process board of the forums: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/80-k-1-fiancee-visa-process-procedures/ Someone more knowledgeable might see it there.

That said, my own experience leaves me to believe that the NOA1 notices are sent out only by the Service Center that ultimately will process your packet, not the lockbox facility that it's initially mailed to. For instance, my packet was sent to the Texas Lockbox, but it was then relayed to the California Service Center, which appears to have sent me the notice only after they entered it into their computer system. It may be that your packet was delayed getting to the Service Center or your Service Center is behind on entering them into the system. It looks like you only have a few days left on that 30 days, so you may have to wait that last few days and then call again. If you do call again, I'd also ask if they can tell you what Service Center your petition was assigned to.

I'd also encourage you to go ahead and create a Timeline at the Immigration Timelines link on the menu above, because VisaJourney uses the timelines to calculate how long things are taking and your experience of such a long wait for a reply may help them identify delays at facilities for other users too. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline
