Hello all!

I just arrived to the U.S. (yesterday) and since it takes more or less 2 weeks so that my name shows up in the SAVE system we are thinking to get married within the following week.

My question is: Can we get married while I wait the 2 weeks it takes for my name show up on the SAVE system?

If so, is the process any different than it would be if I apply for the SSN?

By save system im assuming you mean the I-94, which is now instant, and does not take 2 weeks anymore.

Once in the states you can check it a few hours after landing here -> https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html;jsessionid=B251Vltp2DHRn2P8QxhhGLbMMvmb5MmM7QcbQNlny8XZgTXkz2xk!975261647

AOS does not require a SSN.

Applying for a SSN before Marriage is easier because they dont like to change a spouses last name without either EAD or Greencard if either of you are doing that.

SSN is mainly for tax and possibly opening some bank accs etc.

You can check on your I-94 immediately... make sure your FULL name appears on it. They had abbreviated my husband's name and we werent allowed to get a SSN until the I-94 was fixed.... other than that you can get married immediately.
