Donating Blood While Waiting For Work Authorization?

6 posts in this topic

I didn't really know where to put this question and I didn't find a question like it anywhere on here. My now husband came over on a K1 visa and has been trying to find ways to make use of his time. I know he can't work yet, but he is trying to find anyway around this that he can. So my question is can he sell his blood and or plasma to blood banks or is this too something he can't do yet? I have tried looking this up on the Internet and have found nothing so far. Any help on this issue would be much appreciated.

~~Moved to Moving to the US and Your New Life in America, from AOS Family. As the question is not so much about the AOS process and not really work related.~~

There are travel restrictions for donating blood. You should look into that before getting any hopes up for extra cash.

you mention that your husband is trying to find use of his time, but then you mention selling blood or plasma, that sounds more like some one desperate for cash then trying to find ways to occupied themselves or to keep busy

If he want more cash, giving blood and plasma is not the way to go. It feels like the industry for that target really poor people and make them go donate more often which makes them sick. If he wants to donate blood then please tell him to do it free and safe at The Red Cross. And yeah, depending on what country he is from, he can do it. I am not familiar with Egypt but if I can find the website with information I used when I tried to figure out if I was allowed I will post it here. In the meantime, read an article about cash reward for plasma donations.

If he wants a better way of earning money that doesn't involve donating blood/plasma: online surveys for cash. Lots of companies pay for telling them about what they buy, what shampoo they use etc. I don't want to get reported for solicitation so I won't link to any of them but I've used a few and they're good.
