My father is a soldier and I was an army brat. He worked primarily on peace keeping missions, such as the removal of Khmer rouge land mines in Cambodia. I thank him for his service and I thank every soldier. That being said, I wish that our leaders, the leaders of every nation, respected the sacrifices of soldiers enough to do everything in their power to make those sacrifices rare. Sadly, too many politicians use military personnel as pawns to further political agendas and not actually for the defence and protection of the nations these soldiers serve.

I wish that politicians respected military personnel and their families enough to do everything possible to a) avoid sending soldiers to fight, b) bring soldiers home as quickly as possible and c) take care of veterans when they come home. Sadly, too many western powers, especially the US, are failing at all three of those and I think it's disrespectful to veterans to forget that they have been used and abused by the government.

And this is how you honor those men and women. By attacking someone who did nothing but say thank you. And consistently disrespecting the President.
