Tips on Finding work

Once she started to job hunt, it took Chinook a few months to get her first job here in the U.S.

She finally got hired as an RN. On her resume, she used her experience as a volunteer RN in 'Pinas. We think it helped her land that first job.

Huge difference between just walking into WalMart and finding grunt work, and finding a professional work such as teacher or nurse. For the latter, you have to carefully compare qualifications, get your foreign degree "evaluated" by an accrediting agency so the employer believes you have an actual college degree, and then sit for and pass the accreditation tests needed. Chinook passed the PRAXXIS or whatever it's called, and a public school teacher would need to pass the state agencies standardized tests, etc.

Thank you. But i am not good with tagalog too :(

I have noticed people who speak Bisaya have a hard time understanding tagalog. For me as a White Guy I find bisaya much easier to understand and speak (Limited) than tagalog.....

You're going to get a job before you know it.

If you don't drive, you might want to start taking driving lessons right away because you'll probably be driving to work.

This is what F is telling me. That knowing how to drive can give me more opportunities of finding the job i want. Am too uncoordinated to even try driving lol.

I tried to compromise and offered i will take lessons here in the Philippines before i go and he said a hard no. Haha! He wanted me to learn when i get to the us not here... and i think i know why, drivers here are crazy. Wahahaha!

For Chinook and me, the most difficult thing about the entire immigration process was when I taught Chinook how to drive. That's all I'm going to say about that subject...

Just tell your fiancé that you need to go to a driving school here in the U.S. Trust me on this.

Huh? I already know how to drive. It was Chinook who needed to learn.

And taking the bus was not an option.

Ya, not too many trikes, jeepneys available in the US are they.

Anybody the requirements for importing say a 1000 trikes and setting up franchises? May be a good second family income. Asawa could handle hiring 16 yo with new license so they could get driving experience and keep 60% of income. Wonder what the liability insurance premiums would be?
