What things MUST be done at the civil surgeon's office and nowhere else?

My husband called around with poor results: 3 out of 4 doctors anywhere near us said they no longer do immigration appointments. The fourth is expensive and refused to talk to me or to look at anything in advance in order to tell me what else I might need. The office told me to search for the information online.

So, can the tuberculosis blood test be done anywhere, or must it be done at the civil surgeons's office? Is there anything else I should do in advance, outside of that and vaccinations? Is an HIV test still required?

It sounds like I must take care of everything elsewhere, assuming this is allowed, and she will then fill out the paperwork, mainly.

TIA!

Only thing you can do is to take vaccines (if you miss any required one) at Sams, Walgreens... for cheaper. Everything else has to be done with civil surgeons.

Thank you, Nancy. The office had talked about the tuberculosis test to my dh. I am starting to have a feeling that they have no idea what they are doing...

I, too, called many doctors on the list - and quite a number said they no longer do the USCIS medical; Of the others, the quotes ranged from $50 to $500 - they can set the cost themselves as it's not regulated.

I went with a Doctor located about 30 minutes away - and it cost me $100

Where in the USA are you based? Have you called all the Doctors within an hours drive of you?

Yes, we called all the doctors within an hour, actually more than an hour. The one that I have the appointment with is closer to 2 hours from here.

Purely out of interest, how much is your Doctor charging for the medical?

500 plus I was adviced to do the tuberculosis testing elsewhere... So weird.

Wow - that is 5 times what I had to pay ($100), and that included the TB testing!!!!

Thank you, Nancy. The office had talked about the tuberculosis test to my dh. I am starting to have a feeling that they have no idea what they are doing...

There is a thread name "Civil Surgeons who don't rip you off" and yes TB test they have to perform, they will send you to further treatment if result is positive.
