New passport of different name and date of birth

My fiancé (USC)and I are preparing to petition for K1 visa. But before K1 I'd like to apply for tourist visa to visit his family.
Here's my background:

I used to hold a Hong Kong passport. Unfortunately I lost my residency in HK last year because my wrong DOB on the paper I used to immigrate to HK 20 years back. So I was deported back to my birth place, China. and now I have a China passport with my proper date of birth.

However, my English name on passport appears to be different even though I didn't change my name. Since HK and China use different phonetic system to represent my Chinese name, e.g.my name 張 is CHEUNG in HK( Cantonese phonetics) and ZHANG in China (Chinese pinyin) so my English name on my new China passport is different than my name on the old HK passport.
My concern is that I have visited U.S. once 4 years ago on tourist visa using HK passport (with Date of Birth A, and name CHEUNG) and now I'm holding a China passport (with Date of Birth B and name ZHANG). Will the U.S. see me as having two identities? Will this be a problem when I apply for a tourist visa/entering US, because immigration has my record of entering US 4 years ago?
I plan to explain the whole situation when I apply for K1 visa. But should I explain this when I apply for a tourist visa too? Does it matter if I hold a passport with a different identity? My concern is that if I have to explain then they will know that I have been deported from HK before. I wonder if this will affect my visa approval/entry denial and future K1 application.
Any advice is appreciated.

All you can do is try, I see an issues with the DOB

If an inadvertent error, you didn't make an effort to correct DOB once in 20-odd years? Or was it something more nefarious; either way, expect DOB issues with B2\K1.

Lied to get a passport, think there was a 7 year rule in HK at the time.

Does that mean the 'lie', being past HK's statute of limitation, is forgiven, and no issues with USEmb?

In my post above, not questioning, just want to know from an informational perspective.

Not saying it is a CIMT.

Thee were a lot of illegals in HK when UK handed over there was a rule as to who became a HK resident.

I would imagine there was a lot of document forgery at the time and OP belatedly was caught.

Many Chinese citizens who crossed the border years back, were given Hong Kong permanent residency (being we were a part of the UK and now a Chinese SAR, we never had our own citizenship , so our permanent residency is the equivalent of citizenship). Many risked their lives crossed the border to escape the communists' tyranny.

China has a HUKOU system which is very easy to abuse , due to their infamous one child policy, it is quite common to pay somebody a sum of money for a HUKOU which translates to Chinese citizenship. Those Hukous were never verified by anybody. And immigrants coming from mainland China are handled by the Chinese , not hong kong authority , so there really isn't anyway we could verify of one's identity.

I am shocked you were found guilty of evading Hong kong immigration accordance and deported back to China, such cases are extremely extremely rare and usually pardoned by the director or immigration department based on humanitarian reasons. Unless you have something strongly against you in Hong Kong.

If you have entered the US using your HK SAR passport, you have given your fingerprints, so when you are applying for K1 , they would know that you were this person with a different name a DOB. Name is easy to explain but how are you going to explain your different DOB? If you do tell them the real story, they could deny your application because of past history evading immigration laws.

If you came to HK 20 some years ago, were you ever issued a British Passport? British Passports issued to Hong Kongers prior to the hand over is not revokable and good for life. You may be able to use your british passport to apply for K1.

the Chinese citizenship registry is very easy to alter upon a payment of RENMINBI, Many of them do change their DOB so they could retire at an early age and get pensions. It is a well known fact.

British Paasports are good for 10 years usually.

They have a 10-year validity, yes . I meant to tell him/her that UK passport issued to Hong Kongers cannot be revoked unless he/she renounced British nationality. .

Thank you all for your replies.

I know my real DOB. When I immigrated to HK 20 years ago I was only 8. All the papers were handled by my chinese relatives in China. My parents were already HK residents. I am quite sure there were some money and document forgery involved but I was just a minor. I haven't done anything wrong and my life is totally ruined..

Anyway, my DOB on the paper to HK was wrong.

To Kiran n Suds, yes we tried to amend it. My parents reported the error on DOB to the Immigration department immediately after I arrived to HK. I don't know if they didn't care or somehow they used 20 years to investigate and still issued me permanent residency and passport after 7 years living in HK. So i just went with it. (I didn’t know I would meet my fiancé, or to have anything to do with immigration again)

So, we started legal proceedings on my residency 4 years ago. Apparently I lost but I wasn't charged of any offences to immigration law. Maybe because I wasn't involved in the forgery because I was a minor? Maybe they thought it was a technical error? I don't know.

To subwayguy, I was not issued a British passport. Only those were born in HK were allowed to apply for it. From your point of view, it will be an issue even for me to apply for K1? I didn't try to break any law. My fiance and I already have a 10-month old son so we wanted to get married and moved to the US and start his school there.

This issue has been torturing me FOREVER. I am soooo desperate to find a way out of it.

Did you lie when obtaining a US Visa?
