Question about Having to Call the NVC

A Cr-1 visa is process at the NVC as adjustment of status is also done for that visa that is the big advantage of a spousal visa so as soon as the foreign spouse arrives in the USA he or she will automatic be a legal residents. there will be more documents to be sent to the NVC for the CR-1 visa, then after it is approve the NVC will schedule interview and sent everything to the Embassy. For a k-1 visa the AOS is done later in the USA, there is no documents to send to the NVC. The NVC will look over everything assign case number and send everything to the embassy and the person will schedule their own interview

I tried to email the NVC several times, no response. I did call and they have us our case number. There seems to be quite a wait at HCMC for interviews. If you want to help speed your process up. You can call the NVC and get your case number so you can register at UStraveldocs so you can pay your visa fee so you can get your interview appointment set as soon as you can.

Hello you guys

Did you book your appointment interview yet?

My case was sent to Consulate since 5 June but right now I haven't received any information from them.I have called them at this morning to ask them about my case but they checked out case number not return data.

I try to enter my case number on CEAC page but " no return" too

You guy can check status by case number on that page before reaching Vietnam, didn't you?

Thanks in advanced for your response

My case status is still "In Transit" at CEAC, but my fiancee already rec'd the Package 3 in HCM; so don't think CEAC update their website too often! We're in the process of paying Visa fees, DS-160, medical; but haven't booked interview date yet because they require the visa fee to be paid first. So this time tomorrow we'll have an interview date; but as of now the soonest interview won't be available until Aug 13th. btw... I still haven't recv'd the NVC letter yet!

I called and got the case number from NVC and completed the ds-160 the day after. Depending on your country specifics it may be possible that not everyone can move forward with completing the ds-160 but I was and there where no issues in fact by doing so the embassey just automatically emailed us packet 3. If I did not they would have mailed packet 3 which would have delayed us about 2 additional weeks.

Hi Guys

Can you check your case status on CEAC page by that case number after got it from NVC Calling.?

I cannt even check my case.It always show" Invalid ID" or No return Data"

Make me stress so much with this very long process

Thanks for your reaponce

Even though K 1 is technically a non immigrant visa, when you check your case number here, https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx, you must check immigrant visa to check your case status. This may be your problem. Yes we did fill out DS-160 and registered at UStraveldocs and paid the visa fee and scheduled the interview before packet 3. I emailed the consulate and they sent me packet 3 and about a week later my fiancée recieved it via snail mail. I had to upload a copy of her birth certificate to the consulate and about 3 days later they sent me a new packet 3 because they got her name wrong. GLTA

This is what I did, before we got packet 3. We filled out DS-160, we registered at UStraveldocs and paid the visa fee. I emailed the consulate here, http://hochiminh.usconsulate.gov/mobile//contact/ivinquiries.html, they told me they had recieved our file, as soon as they confirmed they recieved it my fiancée scheduled her interview. I based that on recent others getting there packet soon after the consulate recieves it. I emailed the consulate again a week later and they sent me package 3. Then she mailed the DS-160, passport photos and copy of her passport to the embassy. Hope this helps.

In your original post you stated that your case was sent to the consulate June 5th. I'm assuming you called the NVC and or got a reply via mail with your case number. If it has left the NVC email the consulate in HCMC at the link in my previous post and they can confirm this. They will usually reply within 24 to 48 hours.

Once you have the HCM case number, just go ahead and fill out DS-160, pay visa fee, then book your interview date. Interview dates are all the way out at mid-August now, so you have plenty of time to wait for package 3 or do whatever else you need to do before the interview. The longer you wait now, the farther your interview date will be.
