Males between the ages of 18 and 26 have to register for selective service. It's basically a list from which men can be called up for military service if the draft were to be reinstated. This requirement applies to any male who was a US citizen, a permanent resident, or an illegal immigrant in the US between 18 and 26.

Once you turn 26, you can't register. If you can't demonstrate that you didn't know that you were supposed to register, then you can be barred from naturalization until you turn 31 (5 years). It's not easy to prove that you didn't knowingly avoid registration because some of the green card paperwork that you signed specifically mentions selective service.

Based on your age, this won't matter because you are over 31.
