My Fiancee was denied due to her being found ineligible under 221 (g). We did everything by the book, photos, text & call logs, letter of intent, evidence of support. The CO gave her the denial paper and walked away without explanations.

The question she was asked(through a translator)

How did we meet?

ans. we met through his cousin, who is also my best friend

Do you have family in USA?

ans. NO

Why are you marring someone from USA?

ans. Because I'm at the age where I like to start a family, and I met him and fell in love.

When do you plan to get married?

ans. As soon as I get there

What does SF mean(on a picture I was wearing a baseball cap with SF on it).

ans. San Francisco, that's where he lives

What could be the reason for the denial and any chance to appeal through lawyer? Or is it a just a waste of time and it's better to get married and apply for that. very disappointed and feel it was unjust decision.

How much time have you spent together

Having met through a family member is a red flag. Do you have any other red flags in your relationship? Huge age difference, huge cultural difference, different religions? She doesn't speak English (you mentioned she used a translator at her interview), but do you speak her language? Not having a common language to speak is a red flag also. How many times have you met her in person and how much time have you spent together?

Most people say appealing is a waste of time. I would say find out why she was denied then get married and file for a spousal visa (IR-1/CR-1). Ethiopia is a high fraud country, so make sure you submit tons of evidence and spend a lot of time together in person before filing.

Well that's the truth, we met through a family. We are the same age, same culture, same religion. I speak the native language so no communication problem. The only thing I can think of is we met in person once and for two weeks(new job). I have to try and find out why it was denied.

How much time have you spent together

2 weeks.

Yeah, most likely the problem was that you have met her in person only once and spent 2 weeks together. You two need to spend much more time together in person before even applying for a spousal visa. High fraud country consulates are hard to please, for a good reason.

Good luck!

Agreed

Symptomatic of the visa application being primarily for an immigration benefit.

Certainly fits the pattern.

Was anything written on your 221g or was a box check marked ?

We were denied the first time around too, it happens.

We filed another K1 and were approved.

You can get married and file a CR1.

Visit as often as you can. Consider being there for the next interview.

Best wishes.

2 weeks.

How did you get your green card and citizenship? If you got it through marriage to a US citizen whom you have subsequently divorced so you can now marry someone from your native country, that's a red flag right there.
