Moving Interview date

Hi all,

Wanna thank VJ for how much help they have been!

I'm applying for a K1, have received my interview date and am just now collecting documents. I've found the whole process unnecessarily cryptic! But whatever, I'll get there.

My question is thus - my appointment date is 28th July, I'll be ready well before then however and was wondering, has anyone had any success asking for an earlier appointment?

I'm pretty sure I don't qualify for an emergency appointment, and wouldn't risk that anyway, but is it possible to call/email and request an earlier appointment if there is a cancellation? Do people cancel these things?

Any success with any embassy appreciated, much love if it's Sydney embassy.

Cheers!

As far as I remember, Australia assigned you your interview date, correct? I have read a specific thread on here for Sydney where the person asked for a change of date and the embassy told her flat out that there are no other interview dates but offered to put her on a sort of wait list in case a slot opens up/someone cancels. But her correspondence with them confused her more because of their vague answers and she found it hard to get in touch with them afterwards.

I think it's ok to try and request for an earlier one. People cancel all the time. If I am allowed to keep my date and be on a wait list for something sooner, I would jump on that in a heartbeat.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."
