K1 Visa Interview - Waiting Room?

So my fiance and I just got our interview date - June 5th - YAY! Coincidentally, I already had a trip planned to visit him at the beginning of June and will be in the UK on June 5th. Obviously I know that I can't actually be in the interview room with him, but can I stay in the waiting room with him? I couldn't find a definitive yes or no answer on the London embassy website.

Was t mentioned on the Ds-160 that you would be going?

I'm not sure about the embassy and those accompanying the interviewee, but the waiting room is large so if so then there's no problem.

And the interviews aren't in rooms, it's just separated windows.

No it wasn't mentioned on the DS-160 that I would be in attendance. I planned this trip about a month and a half ago ago before Dan even went in for his medical. Once he submitted his notification of readiness, I thought it might be a possibility that the interview date/trip might overlap, but didn't know for sure until we got our official letter late last week!

Was just curious if any other U.S. petitioners on here were allowed to be in the waiting room!

You are allowed in the waiting room, but do have to let them know you're coming so they can approve it and put you on the list for the day. I think this was supposed to have been done on the readiness form. I'm sure Nich-Nick will be around shortly to tell you if there's a way to go about adding your name now after the fact.

You have to request permission to even get in the door at the embassy. Otherwise you wait outside in the adjoining park or Starbucks nearby. Here is the form with a place to tick your request. http://london.usembassy.gov/niv/visa_contact_form.html

Add interview person's name in the little box and USC's name in the bigger box.

Think of inside as a big bank lobby with teller windows along the edge. You may go up to the window with him. The first time called up is to turn in documents. It's not the interview. The second time called is also a window but usually in the area behind the document window section. Smaller area than the big lobby. You can go to that window also.

I was in the UK and attended my husband's fiancé interview. It is short and not that private or secretive. You are waiting to be called up longer than your face time with the interviewer.

I think adding someone to attend the interview is done on the visa payment form when you confirm the consular appointment.

Or you can just use the online contact form to let them know.

It may also be on the DS-160. I don't know the nitty gritty of that form. Then the interview letter would have the USCs name printed on it. But requests later can be done on the contact form and they should email back some kind of confirmation. The guy holding the interview list outside the embassy should have the name on his list, even if you don't get perfect confirmation by email.

Then there was Queen of Blades (if I remember correctly) who got inside and asked if her fiancé could please come in and somehow pulled it off. I kinda talked my way in also, but I would request permission since you have plenty of time.

Good luck! Think of it as a cross between a bank and a museum. There are loads of chairs in the middle. The shipping company is sort of behind you, theres a snack bar with American food at the front and to your right are the windows for paperwork and around a corner are the interview windows.

It is way less formal in the London Embassy than the interviews that are done in the US. I had one for ROC in Vermont and it was in an office and filmed. Nothing like that at all in London.
