Does the Applicant Need a Job if They're Coming to the US Anyway?

Hi everyone,

Just a question concerning the CR-1 visa, or any of these type for that matter. My husband currently doesn't work, but I do and I'm obviously sponsoring him to come to the US. Will it matter at the interview that he doesn't currently have a job and that he's in university? I've seen in past (old, like before 2011) that it doesn't, but I have a feeling that CO's would be more concerned about this lately, especially given how long AP takes for men in the Middle East.

Thanks for any tips.

If you're asking if your foreign spouse need to have a job to be able to immigrate to the US then the answer is no. In fact, US immigrations couldn't care less about it, even if he would have a job offer for a well-paid management job, they still wouldn't care about it. Sad but true. :(

It doesn't matter if the beneficiary is unemployed. I was a stay-at-home-mom for almost a decade before immigrating and it was not an issue during embassy interview. I am the beneficiary.

Thanks everyone. I meant, if he is employed in Egypt. He hasn't been working for awhile and I don't know how that looks to the CO's when immigrating. I realize eventually they'd leave the job anyway, but I feel like it would matter if it's a man immigrating, as opposed to a woman. And he is the beneficiary, not applicant--that's me :D

It doesn't matter in the slightest if the beneficiary has a job or not, man or woman.
