Also If you are using a joint sponsor, that person will have to show proof of citizenship and proof of relationship to the petitioner,

That is what proof of relationship is referring to under the AOS packet

This is correct. "Prove of relationship" is if you are using a joint sponsor.

Actually, that's not correct. Joint sponsors are not required to show any kind of proof of relationship to a petitioner. A joint sponsor can by any US Citizen domiciled in the US or a LPR. There is no requirement that a petitioner or joint sponsor know each other or live in the same geographical area.

The only time proof of relationship is needed is if a petitioner is combining income with a household member to meet the qualifying threshold.

Thank you for correcting me. I had a similar question as OP several months ago and I found exactly the same incorrect answer. It stated "this is about joint sponsor" and was never corrected. As we didn't have a joint sponsor I then ignored this particular category - "relationship" on AOS.

Thank you again and sory my bad.

You are correct I was wrong about the joint sponsor needing proof of relationship to the petitioner

However to answer the op question only the marriage certificate is require, no additional proof relationship is needed between the petitioner and the beneficiary for the AOS or the IV packet

In addition to all required forms and supporting documents (like tax transcript, etc.),

we also sent in...

1) Join accounts (savings, checking, credit card, debit card, etc. )

2) Added her to my health insurance

3) Made her beneficiary to life insurance, IRA, 401K, etc.

We are living together, so we didn't send anything like pictures, chat logs, etc.

You sent them as part of AOS (Affidavit of Support) package or what?

The op is referring to the AOS and IV packet that is sent to the NVC for the IR-1/CR-1 spousal visa .It might be a different process for AOS for a K-1 visa but for the AOS packet that is sent to the NVC for the CR-1 visa no additional proof of relationship is needed

oh, ok..sorry I got confuse :oops::oops::oops:

AOS in the IR1/CR1 refers to the Affidavit of Support not the Adjustment of Status. An Ir1/Cr1 visa holder does not need to adjust their status as they become a green card holder immediately upon entry to the USA.

:oops::oops: sorry I thought it was AOS as in Adjustment of Status
