Aloha,

Soumanti will be visiting mid-June. I understand that I need to provide financial information for her to take to

her interview in Kolkata. The question we have is what information will she be required to show CBP upon entry?

And will she be required to show the same financials? Or are they irrelevant since they were already deemed

acceptable by nature of receiving the visa??

I'm confused, does your fiancé already have a tourist visa? Or is that the interview she'll be attending in Kolkata?

If granted a B tourist visa, one is not guaranteed entrance into the U.S. Although she has submitted documents at the tourist visa interview, it is always best to make copies of everything submitted and bring them to the Port of Entry.

This is confusing. What interview?

Sounded like she has a visa..B2?.. based on OP's other posts, where we discussed at length the timing of her return flight from Hawaii back to India. One doesn't typically get to that level of planning till they have a visa in hand.

Moreover, OP has stated she previously traveled to the US in February to scout grad schools. Presumably she's prepared paperwork before.

Off topic:

A number of places in India reverted back to their so-called original names a few years back. Calcutta became Kolkotta and what used to be Bombay is now Mumbai.

I knoew Mumbai but did not realise Calcutta had the treatment as well.

Mahalo Kiran n Suds for remembering us!!!!

Yes, she has a 6 month visa from February. The bad thing is - it is about to expire as her passport is also. She

has her tests in the next 10 days, then after that she will present her thesis. After that it will joyfully be all about

us.. I can't tell you how excited we are. But that's a whooooooooole nother story (L) (L) (L) (L)

Since both her visa and passport are still valid, can we assume that renewing both will be easier and quicker

than if they had both expired??

We appreciate you guys so much!!
