Immigrating with family heirlooms

Hi, I plan to bring some family heirlooms with me when I come to the US.

Do I need to declare these and is there any tax/fee implications?

I brought things dear to me in my moving truck full of boxes of possessions, were you thinking of bringing a Faberge Egg worth millions or simply items which only have sentimental value to you? Even if its jewelry, its still your possession, not sure what you would declare?

Obviously certain items are not allowed - ie: no ivory...whatever is not allowed through customs.

Thanks, nothing extravagant. Just pens and watches and jewellery. Nothing is new, they are all old.

I don't plan on selling any of it for income in the US.

I wouldn't worry about it - you're entitled to move with your belongings, pack them, have your itemized list depending on whether they will be with you or following and away you go.

Nothing to worry about. You don't have to declare them. My mom recently passed away (and my Dad is gone too) so I had to bring back all their jewelry/valuables with me to the US. I didn't have any issues at all at LAX.
