So you had the K-1 interview and the Consulate

The consulate said the 3 magic words "Your Visa's approved"

Now what???

For the first 2 working days:

CEAC (Dept Of State) shows NVC Case # status with

- "Case Creation Date of March XX"

- "Case Update" Date as April 30 (Interview date)

- Status "Ready"

USTravelDoc site shows "Your Passport is still at Embassy/Consulate"

On the 3rd Working day:

CEAC (Dept Of State) shows NVC Case # status with

- "Case Creation Date" of today May 06

- "Case Update" Date as today May 06

- Status "Administrative Processing"

USTravelDoc site shows the same message "Your Passport is still at Embassy/Consulate"

Can others share these details of

- if this is normal?

- when Embassy ships out passport?

- how long these steps take?

It depends on your country. In China they issued visas on the 3d day, the next day they change the status on ustraveldocs that the passport has left the consular office and is been currently processed for delivery, since then no changes at all

You don't have neither track number nor the name of the of the shipping company. Totally it took 10 days for me from interview to the day I received my passport. I guess it depends on how busy they are. Because in Russia it took only 4 say for one friend of mine.

As kattaklizm said, it depends on the country.

That being said:

1. Yes, it is very normal

2. Probably sometime this week, but that was just my experience, which was not with the embassy in India.

3. Depends on the embassy/country. Probably a week or so. Did the CO tell you anything at the end?

The CO said "You're approved" and also that "you will get your passport in 2-3 working days".

Today is day 4 and the worst part is the case went into "Administrative Processing" with the CEAC date Case Creation Date changing from the original middle-of-March to now showing May 06 :(

I called the visa services number and they said it can take up to 60 days.

They said they may be doing some checks.

That happens to everyone. No reason to fret yet.

Congrats!

Can you share CEAC status message at various points?

a) after interview

b) after visa was issued

c) after passport mailed

Also, update on my end:

On the 4th Working day:

CEAC (Dept Of State) shows NVC Case # status with

- "Case Creation Date" May 06

- "Case Update" Date as today May 07

- Status "Issued"

- message says it can take 10 days to prepare paperwork to send back.

On the 5th Working day:

CEAC (Dept Of State) shows NVC Case # status as Issued and no change even as other sites have progressed

The USTravelDoc site now shows "The Embassy has given your passport and is being prepared for delivery" or something like that.

On the 6th Working day:

It says "Ready for Pickup" on cgifederal / USTravelDocs site, not on CEAC site.

no SMS or call yet from them.

Going to go and get the passport.
