I have a question on the affidavit of support. What information I need from the bank? I had them print out a years worth of statements, and they printed out the signature cards showing when i started my accounts, I also have all my pay stubs printed up for my employeers website and a few years tax returns. What else do I need? I also will have my father as a co-sponser just to be safe.

Question on the medical. My fiancee is from Mexico City. I saw on the NVC they have a medical place there she can go to. Has anyone done that in Mexico City?

If you are an employee, just your 2014 tax transcript, letter from employer and/or recent pay stubs will do. No need for bank statements unless you are using assets you need to prove the value of. If you meet the income requirement, then no need for assets or a co-sponsor.

You must do the medical in Juarez. Acceptable clinics listed in the Juarez instructions > http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/K1/CDJ%20-%20Ciudad%20Juarez.pdf

Interesting. I thought that clinic was for DCF immigrant applicants in Mexico City, but it seems those are now going to Juarez too.

It states that if you live in Mexico City you should go there, but then the website for that clinic says this >

Before requesting an appointment, please consider the following:

  • To be sure your visa appointment is at the Embassy of Mexico City.

http://www.mei-mexico.com/eng_usa.html

That is confusing. I suggest contacting the consulate and/or clinic and asking if a K-1 applicant residing in Mexico City would go there or one of the clinics in Juarez.

Post back your findings to help others living in the state of Mexico. Could be a recent policy/procedure update.

Hello Mark,

Since your fiancé is from Mexico city, I would recommend that she goes to the ASC there and get her biometrics done locally. It will avoid the extra time in Juarez and reduce the Juarez stay by one day if she plans on flying back to Mexico City after her interview in Juarez and wait for visa/passport to arrive via DHL.

I scheduled my fiancés (Now wife) ASC appointment (Biometrics) in Guadalajara 1 week prior to the K-1 interview in Juarez and it saved us a day. We didn't have an alternate option in regards to her medical so that was done in Ciudad Juarez but all went well. We did wait a few days extra in Juarez after the interview in order for her to come back to the states with me from there. If that's what you are shooting for, please choose the DHL location in Ciudad Juarez on Lopez Mateos. There is lot's of issues with the other DHL branch office in Zaragoza (Juarez) but if you will be choosing the delivery of the packet back in Mexico City, there is several DHL branches to choose from.

Our 1 week stay in Juarez was positive but avoid the coyotes around the mall/clinic/embassy area.

Good luck to you guys on your visa journey!

All the best,

Gera

I almost forgot, definitely give the Clinic in Mexico City a call to inquire in regards to an applicant that is scheduled for an interview in Ciudad Juarez to be allowed the option of having their medical performed at that facility while fulfilling all requirements for a K-1 visa?

It will definitely be helpful to many applicants residing in the state of Mexico as KayDeeCee stated should it be a green light!

Hola,

Please click on the link below to register first and foremost. After you register an account, you'll have options such as scheduling your ASC/Biometrics, interview, paying visa fees, and DHL pickup location. The site is pretty straight forward but when scheduling the ASC location just use the drop down and choose GUADALAJARA. I recommend that you schedule the interview in Juarez at least 1 week after the ASC/Biometrics. I did so for my wife (fiancé at the time) and all went well. :)

Thanks again for all the help. Question with the DS-160. After it is done is there a fee to pay or do you just get the confirmation number and the visa fees are paid at the other site. She got her letter today so we will be doing this soon.

Print the confirmation number of the DS-160 form (printout with barcode will be needed at ASC appointment) and then you can pay the visa fees at the site below upon registering for an account...
