Hi all,

Hope u r doing well

Finally, we get to US through Ohare airport in Chicago but have a question

Upon entry the officer did not take digital photos of us but only the fingerprints.

Is that ok?

Also is there any source we can check the progress of our green cards through?

Thanks alot

Thanks Susie,

What about the photos issue?

I don't think it's a problem. I can't actually remember if they took our photos, I know they didn't of the children but their green cards still have photos on them, I guess from the interview!

It would help if your filled in your time line!

Photos, no problem.,.,as long as finger prints done.

Because you did not post your time line, we have no idea about you. K-1.,.,.CR-1..,.,.,I-130.,..,,we do not know. Please read the site.,.,.well somewhat before posting.

The information is here.

K-1.,..,you must file AOS, something like CR-1 or I-130.,.,.,.,contact USCIS.,.,if you do not have paper work. From them (USCIS)

You sid ""US"" in your post.,.,so you are married..,.,USCIS should be contacted about your Gc.,.,.,they will probably come automatically. A few days, .,..,.I would guess.

He is DV, posting in the DV forum. The timelines etc are not set up to make any sense for DV applicants, there is not even an option for DV in the status bar, that's why we all say "filed for other"...

So before you start criticizing people for not filling in timelines maybe you should look at the forum they are posting in ..he came to the right place.

you still have to do biometrics for your green card at your local USCIS office for the green, they will take pictures for the green card at that time. You will receive a letter for biometrics within the first week or so.

No...everything is done either at the consular interview or at the airport on entry. This is DV remember...

I and everyone else I know just got the GC in the mail without any need to visit a local USCIS office for biometrics.

Thanks all for your replies

Today I tried to check the issue with the receipt number but the page shows an error.I do not know why actually...

For how long the process took in the airport, for those who ask,it didnt take more than 30 minutes.it was so smooth and fast

Ok, so... The way it works is this: you pay your $165 per person USCIS fee on your elis account, and get your receipt number. Nothing happens other than an "accepted" bubble until you enter. Then, nothing continues to happen for a little while longer until your elis account bubble goes to "optimized" - this is when someone somewhere has pressed a button that starts the actual production process - and can take a while after entry. Once the bubble goes to "optimized" is when your receipt number should start being recognized on the case status page (before then you will get an error message just as happened to you now). Until then, unfortunately, all you can do is wait. From what I have seen, current reports are that you should get your green card within about a month after entry.
