I want to know why our government thinks its ok to mess with peoples lives? I miss my husband so much. it's only been 2 weeks and I can't deal with it. I can't function at all. I went over 2 years with out seeing him and leaving this time is killing me. I feel so bad for those who haven't seen their spouse in a while. I just don't know how much more I can take. I just want to be with my husband. I can't afford to lose my job or my house but I can't afford to lose my sanity and health either and right now that's whats happening. I am afraid that I am going to have to take a medical leave from work because I know I am having a nervous break down and this one is far worse then the last. what are they doing to us. why can't they see what they are doing? missing my husband so much. if it wasn't for my kids I would drop everything and just go back to Ghana. right now its where I am the most happy. even if I can't leave the house without my husband at least I was with him and we could hold each other and feel each others touch. I hate this so much. I can't stop crying. been crying straight for over 12 hours and just can't stop.:cry::cry:  :cry::cry::cry::protest::protest::protest::protest::protest::protest:

How did you meet your husband? How long were you together and what do you miss the most? Times you want to share that can help. Maybe it can help a little now. This is important now; you had a very big reason to come back to the US and start this again. I know how it feels right now and you would give everything to go back there but you have a future together; your whole family does. You are the center and the future that you all share together. It won't get easier and you have to take it day by day but look for the next step. Try planning for that. Dont think to the whole process and be overwhelmed, just think to the next step. That's how that works. There is nothing that's going to help you right now but to think to the future you have together. In the next few days or weeks you have to find a spot or something that can make you feel the moment there and some sort of peace on your own. Just some moments. I know this is hard and some days absolutely impossible but get out and find something you think you and your husband will love when he gets there; because that will happen. It even helped me to make our home as if he was already there; he cant bring much with him when he comes so I got all his favorite things, showed him things even at the local consignment that I know he would like then made our space ready for him. Maybe working on this in the next weeks can help. I know this is so hard. Especially at first. There are other things that some can't think would help but others can; maybe some breathing in and just short meditating for awhile. Again, can't help everyone and it certainly wont help if there are moments you are just so overwhelmed you cant stand it but there can be other moments you could be closer to trying to just focus on relaxing. Its not an answer but there have to be ways in the next months you can cope. You can do this; just give it time and remember by next year you will never, ever have to be separate from him again. It's worth it. Wish I could help you more but some people are listening.

Just know your not alone not by a long shot :(

Always wonderful to see you my sweet friend and Happy May to you to, praying this month brings you and the other's your hearts desire. :)(L)

Thank you for the kind words I'm happy if this thread helps anyone since we are all suffering the same pain.

My heart goes out to you and your children and Italia seems like a beautiful place to live but I know how home always seems better. Did I understand correctly he now has his Visa and is coming home to you?

Welcome to the thread. :)(F) (L) (F)

I know the feeling well my heart goes out to you. (F) (L) (F)

Welcome to the thread.

I'm so sorry Soloenta, I just noticed your comment. Thankfully there are so many people coming on for support and lots of really great help. Thank you for your really kind comments. Yes after so long he's coming back. Everything went fast after our case was closed and the embassy in Naples is really great to work with. To be honest, every supervisor and co-worker got a text from me, whether they were sleeping or not, the morning after I came home from work and got the news but to be honest we were excited when we just found out about the interview. The kids and I are getting together about 20 bags of doritos in a basket (the thing he really love most from here) and we found a new telescope for him as a surprise-he talks a lot about seeing the stars here for once together. I am crying a lot too now (smile) but for a very different reason. It's been a long time and seems like forever but it ends. Italy was wonderful and still miss it but for a past middle-aged woman, it's very difficult to find employment, even knowing two languages. I couldnt keep watching my husband take on all the work and stress there knowing our retirement would see an end to our savings with no hope of work. Thanks again for the thread, truly.

Biggest and most heartfelt congratulations to all of you whom are at the end with the interview in sight and past that.

What a wonderful story...you give me inspiration! Today has been a good day for me, just somehow found some peace for a while...it comes and goes. I too am in my 40's (husband in 30's) I thought I should have had more patience with my "life experience" but I feel sometimes I have less!! But I like what you say that we will have a story when it's all done, something we have gone through...that indeed will have made us stronger! Thanks again, best wishes :)

Good for you- I hope today was a good day for you with some moments as well and every day at least carrying some moments of peace. Best wishes for you both as well; patience is a wonderful word we all respect but sometimes it is very, very difficult to keep when you are waiting so long. And the worst, there is no real end to know. Would be so much easier if we could say "Ok this is tough but only 92 days left to see him" and then plan something for the day. But you get there (smile).

Less than twelve hours to interview and I am SO SCARED! I've triple and quadruple checked everything, but I'm still really nervous.

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.
2011: Realized we needed to evaluate our status as friends when we realized we were talking about raising children together.

2011/2012: Decided we were a couple sometime in, but no possibility of being together due to being same sex couple.

June 26, 2013: DOMA overturned. American married couples ALL have the same federal rights at last! We can be a family!

June-September, 2013: Discussion about being together begins.

November 13, 2013: Meet in person to see if this could work. It's perfect. We plan to elope to Boston, MA.

You have no idea how I understand you and I've had a nervous breakdown myself. I always thought myself a strong person but obviously I'm not. I don't understand either how they are permitted in keeping us from our loved ones, how they can decide who should be with whom, is it a real marriage or not. As long as our loved ones don't have a police record and aren't terrorists who are they to have power over our happiness! I can't or don't want to believe we have no recourse in our own lives besides leaving our life behind here. Something needs to be done, but no one will help us. :(

I'm praying God will bless each and every one of you on your journey. please stay encouraged.

Thank you precious for remembering us and coming back and encouraging us! Your one of very few who has. :) Much love and hugs. (F) (L) (F)

Less than twelve hours to interview and I am SO SCARED! I've triple and quadruple checked everything, but I'm still really nervous.

You'll be fine, you will see how smooth it's going to go and I can't wait for you to come back and let us know "VISA APPROVED" so just relax rest and know this is just one more step for you and the end of a very long journey no matter how long it's been due to the torture. I'll be praying for you two to cover all basis ;)
