SLEC... Only in the PI

So on Tues/Weds this week my asawa went to SLEC for her med clearance. First day she was asked for vaccination records which no longer exist. They are at the bottom of South China Sea or maybe just Manila Bay... washed away in typhoon Pendring Oct 2011. No big deal. Come back on Wednesday and get all 3 required immunizations.

So she goes back on Wednesday, goes to vaccination room, and nurse tells her only 2 vaccines are available. Third vaccine out of stock maam. What???? Only hospital in the nation that can process immigrants and they don't have vaccine! You gotta be kidding me. They told her to call back to see if it is back in stock. Or they said she could get it in the US. She got sealed envelope and cd, so not really worried.

I suggested she go back to SLEC after USEM interview and try to get it then. But if it is not available, what's involved in certifying vaccination after arrival at POE? Seems like it could be another stumbling block in the paperwork process so that's why I would prefer she has ALL required docs before POE.

Your right, more time, more paperwork and more money. Do a search, there is a lot of history, as this topic has been discussed previously.

I did my Medicals last October 1, 2014, they said 3 vaccines but they only gave me 2 because the other 1 is out of stock, and told me to come back after 1 month and I am from Davao City. My vaccines weren't completed,Went to the US last March 7, 2015.. No question at POE about vaccines :), I tried giving my CD and Vaccines records to the I.O he said I need those for applying for Jobs.

Out of Stock - Typical in Philippines, I think people bound for Australia go to SLEC also and to be truthful it a pretty small building in the red light district of Ermita, they have a prostitution house almost directly across the street from SLEC that opens around 8 pm with pok pok selling their goods there.

It is best for her go back and get the shots since she has paid for it, if not she will have to get it done here in USA before she can do AOS and that will be another cost.

Quite normal to be short a vaccine at SLEC, nothing to get excited about. If the vaccine is not available before your wife flies you can go to your local county health clinic and get the shot.

Always more fun in the Philippines..........

SLEC is not a hospital. It's a medical factory where you are part of the assembly line. Considering how many people they go through in a day, I'm surprised they're out of stock of more vaccines more often.

No biggie. Only downside is that missing vaccine is already paid for.

BrassBalls, What city or province is your girl from?

San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. So it's not a big inconvenience but still may require another bus and lrt into the city. Hopefully they will have in back in stock after she does USEM interview or surely by the time our daughter is ready for 'processing'. Almost sounds like a meat processing plant, which according to my asawa it virtually was.

I was most concerned about what impact the missing vaccine would have at POE as related to CR-1 entry. According to other responses CBP doesn't even check / care (until our turn, haha). Still want her to get it in PI if at all possible, since as one person said it's already paid for.

To the best of my apparently limited understanding of the visa process, AOS is not part of the CR-1 visa entry. When hitting the POE asawa will automatically get ssan and 'green card'. Daughter entering on CR-2 is eligible for ssan and USPP (I think).

That's why I was concerned that missing shot would jeopardize the normal paper flow if there is such a thing.

My wife didn't get any vaccinations at SLEC because she's pregnant. The doctor just said she'll have to get it in the US after the baby's born. Not a big deal. They are usually covered under insurance as preventative healthcare anyway.

The restock rather quickly as I am sure USEM does not one a track record of being out of vaccines. Last month the same thing occurred for another member and when she returned a month later to catch her flight she stopped by SLEC and they completed the shot and gave her a receipt and she was on her way with shots completed. You should have no problems when you visit again.

Keep in mind the number of people that are applying for visa's. Many of us have attended our wife's interview and were amazed at the number of people being interviewed. I was told by a CO that there individual goal is to interview 150 applicants each day. Do the math. It's got to be a factory assembly line process.
