A Texas police officer was following protocol Tuesday when he was caught on video throwing a drunk woman to the ground, knocking her unconscious, his police chief said.

On cell phone video, a witness captured Round Rock Officer Ben Johnson slamming the woman to the ground in front of her 6-year-old daughter in a strip mall parking lot. Viviana Keith, who was allegedly resisting arrest, hit her head on the pavement and was knocked out, KVUE reported Thursday.

Keith's mother and some witnesses to the incident have accused Johnson of using excessive force. But according to KVUE, Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said the officer did everything right -- not only because Keith was resisting arrest, but because she'd been driving around with her daughter while clearly drunk.

The officer was in the right and she resisted.

She looks like a real winner......

How was she resisting? She had both hands behind her back. Not to mention slamming someone on the ground hard enough to knock them out could have produced more injury.

And what does a real winner look like?

She said her hands were behind her back and they were. She was talking normal, she was not screaming, hollering and losing her temper. He said she was intoxicated, but I didn't see a test administered on her.

Right before he bounced her off the ground, she was having her hands behind her and tried to twist out and then he slammed her.

They had many reports of her acting incoherent and strange, that is why he was called there.

So people cannot act incoherent and strange without being intoxicated? For all the officer knew at the time she could have been bipolar or on medication. He didn't know just because some people speculated it.

Drunk in the middle of the day, Face unkept, Hair dyed, Overweight, Wearing sweats, driving drunk with a child, acting like a fool in public. She is only mid 20's and looks like she is mid 40's, the life of an alcoholic.......

All he had to do was apply pressure. She's what? About a buck ten, and I'm being gracious. If you can't handle a young lady squirming around, what are you doing on the police force? If this was a regular sized man and he moved, what would be the proper use of force? A bullet to the head?

If it was a man who got slammed then it never would of made news.......

She could have issues, or a really bad day. You really shouldn't judge based on physical appearance, lest you be judged yourself.

What are you talking about? Men are being killed by cops and it's been on the news for weeks... Oh wait, but that's black men. I forget you're part of the persecuted class....
