Visa pending upon receipt of CENOMAR

Hello,

My fiancé just had her K1 visa interview. She brought all the relevant documents according to the checklist that was sent to her. What is frustrating is that they told her at the interview that they will only accept the CENOMAR if they receive it directly from the place that issued it, not from her. This was never mentioned this in the checklist, so now she has to wait another two weeks for this to get done. Only then will the visa be approved. Everything else looked good, according to the man who interviewed her. So my question is this: she is planning on resigning her job once the visa gets approved, but she needs to put in one month notice. Now she will have to resign two weeks later than planned, but she would still really like to be able to resign at the time she had originally planned. In your professional opinion, is she safe to do this before the visa is issued? Our case is very straightforward and none of us have ever been married, I can support her, our proof of relationship is good, etc. thanks so much!

How much does she make per month? That would be my main factor in the decision.....

We both make around 2500 per month before taxes

I have never heard of USEM wanting Cenomar directly from NSO office

But if she is making $2,500 a month in the Philippines then I would wait until I received a visa in hand

Average salary there for a nurse or a someone working in a mall is about $200 per month, I suggest to those (most poster here) to have their fiancé quit work on spend time with family.

If I was in your shoes I would quit my USA job and move to Philippine and let her support you.........

Sorry I wasn't clear about her work situation. She is Filipino but she is living and working in Singapore and has been for 7 years

I would still have her work until visa in hand then. Sometimes it can be delayed and go into AP and be there for a few weeks or a few months.

More than likely she should be approved and issued visa in a timely matter.

Did they say why the wanted Cenomar directly from NSO? I know there have been a few others who have done their visa interview in Singapore. Look down in the bottom of the forum under Regions and post this in the PHilippines Sections, They will have better insight on this and why they asked for Cenomar and not accept her Cenomar

You will receive what is called a 221(g) for which your case is put on "hold" till their request is met, either by you or a governmental agency. Wait till you get the document and you will know more of what your responsibility will be. In the mean time I offer this.

It's difficult for anyone to predict when you will receive your visa. We are in normal times and we are seeing 5 to 10 business days. But, we have seen upwards of 30 days to 6 months for some.

Part of the test measures are, estimating the time it will take USEM to process, issue and 2Go to deliver. Since no one can exactly simulate all visa conditions, actual visa processing of each person will vary. As a result, when these estimated visa claims from other applicants are published, I almost always state the standard disclaimer "your mileage may vary."

Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of properties, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you.

Quitting. That is an adult diaper answer - DEPENDS. No one knows, until the visa is ISSUED, it isn't... We can all give opinion, but no one can state for fact about the visa being issued. This is a decision for you two.

As for the CENOMAR it is not required to be delivered directly from NSO most of the time, I think they had issue with the CENOMAR that your fiancee gave them which is why they want one directly from NSO. Most bring the CENOMAR to the interview with no issues.

Ask her. Where did she get the CENOMAR she presented to the CO?

There is a step by step guide here on VJ. http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1 Have you thought of using it? Did you not ask for help? Did you post any questions to determine that you are progressing and have all the documents required.

I'm sorry this happened to you, but you are responsible for your progress along the visa processing. Get the CENOMAR and get it submitted. Follow the directions in the 221(g). No one can tell you after they receive the CENOMAR when you will get your visa. It's impossible to tell you as every case is different and stands on its own.
