Question About Step Son Petition

 Share

I have a friend who is petitioning his 2 year old step son. The son has a scheduled interview in 2 weeks at the US Embassy. The child's grandmother will be accompanying the step son because the mother is already in the US. What kind of questions do they ask the 2 year old? How will the interview go? Will there be questions asked to the grandmother? If so, what questions should the grandmother expect?

We're in the same boat. I don't think my wife can make it back there for the interview...planning on sending her daughter with my wife's sister. Step-daughter is 7. Any answers out there?

They will ask the youth simple questions to determine if this is a ligament visa request. Some questions they will ask who is mother is. Her name. Where is she. When did you last see your mother. Who is that with you and that will just about do it. Children are normally are truthful, so with a couple of questions and the paperwork is in order there won't be much more than that. Tops 5 min. Done.

Seriously doubt they will ask the grandmother any questions, the questions asked of the child will be simple, general questions as he is only 2... most likely it will be very friendly questions

For the 2 year old? Nah they'll just probably look at him and say hi.

For the 7 year old? Probably just her name.

Who ever the accompanying adult is will not be interrogated. Basic questions and maybe the reason why parent isn't present.

Yup, like Hank states, nothing different here same as the K1. Be sure the K2 is in country before they turn 21 or all bets are off. I processed two K-2's and they went very smoothly thanks to all the hard work my wife did with getting the paperwork in order for the three of them.

Thank you dear. :secret: (My wife loves to read my responses so that is for her) <_<

My step-daughter just did her CR2 interview on 7/21. Accompanied by my asawa who did her CR1 in early May. CR2 was expedited (lucky us). About the only thing that didn't cause ANY problems in this whole journey.

Anyway asawa queues up at 6ish with the rest of the mob, shows the expedite appointment letter, escorted to the front of another line and directly into the waiting area which she said was mostly still empty. Most of the windows were still closed. Did all the preliminary stuff, got called for interview, one question "Is your name Marilyn?" She nodded her head yes, didn't even open her mouth. Next word: "Approved". They were out before most of the windows were still not open.

I don't know if that was because of the expedite, or CR2 application. In any event both were on their way home and on the LRT before 9AM.

You got robbed. All that time and money and within 5 min she is in and out. Sounds like the USEM held you up. :wow:

Well, just kidding. I am glad that things went as planned. Congratulations. Now your family is "whole". What's your plan now. Soon to leave the Phil and on your way to the USA?

Never thought about not getting her moneys worth! Maybe on the way to NAIA the three of us should go hang around the embassy for 5 or 6 hours. I'll suggest to asawa that we need to go back at 4AM one last time to get some bola-bola stamp just to see her reaction, haha.

I'm planning to travel in mid August: 1 week in Palawan (El Nido); 1 week Bagauio, Banaue, Saga, Batad excursion; and a final week with family and relatives before traveling finally on Sep 14 to US.
