Hello

I am planning on applying for naturalization soon and just gathering info casually here.

I am wondering if it is possible to request to have a judicial oath done in a city where I live (Lancaster, PA) instead of having to travel to Philadelphia field office for the ceremony?

Doing a google search I found this: http://web.co.lancaster.pa.us/246/NaturalizationThis website seems to be suggesting that there are naturalization ceremonies done there. Is that indeed possible? How does one request doing this? Also, would this be an inconvenience in terms of time? Would I be forced to wait a lot longer for an oath rather than doing it in Phila office?

Any info on this is much appreciated! Thanks.

They may automatically schedule you closer to where you live. Generally speaking, they are not required to accommodate special requests, but oath ceremonies are often conducted closer to an applicants hometown.

Thanks for your responses

I found out that the courthouse in my city does them 4 times a year. Field office is 70 miles away, but does them all the time:

"The Philadelphia Field Office has Judicial Ceremonies 2-8 times per month and Administrative Ceremonies 4-6 times per week. The Philadelphia Field Office does not conduct same-day naturalization ceremonies."

So I wonder if I want to do it quickly maybe they'll get me the Field office one.
