I have a related question about Chicago SSN offices--

Has anybody had any luck changing the name on their SSN card in a Chicago office? My K-1 wife got a SSN before we married. Now we are trying to change the name on her SSN. However the Chicago office that we tried the name-change application at did not seem to know the rules. We used the EAD/AP card and marriage certificate as proof of name change, but we haven't gotten any response after 4 weeks. We are wondering if we should try applying at a different Chicago office who might process things correctly.
