Do Affidavits of Relationship Evidence need to follow a particular format? [edited title]

Hi folks,

I know they're listed as needing

"full name and address, date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit, his or her relationship to the petitioner of beneficiary, if any, and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage"

so I should clarify that, do they need to be presented in a particular way/structure? Or can a person simply write all this info in a letter format, addressed to 'who it may concern'? Also, are they supposed to be any particular length ie no longer than a side of A4? And finally, can AOS incorporate photographs eg of the wedding, or is this the sort of thing that's (best?) left for the interview stage?

This is probably really obvious, but my partner and I are set to (hopefully) send everything off by the end of May, so I'm double/triple checking all info related to a IR-1/CR-1

Affidavit of support is the I-864 available on the USCIS website. http://www.uscis.gov/i-864

Is the visa type for you really IR-3? That's for an adopted child.

Um, I understand the I-864 is for financial AOS, I'm tallking about the additional documents required for an IR-1, for which there is clearly no space on the I-864. Ahem:

Evidence of a bonafide marriage. This can be any of these:

• A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence

• Documentation showing co-mingling of financial resources

• Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship.

(Each affidavit must contain the full name and address, date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit, his or her relationship to you, if any, and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of the marriage)

• Any other relevant documentation to establish that there is an ongoing marital union.

If you have enough evidence you do not need affadavits they are only secondary evidence and not very good evidence other kind of evidence is better. I did not include any affidavits

Cheers for the reply, j&ana my partner have tons of photos and boarding passes, not to mention emails and Skype logs, so I guess we'll rely on those.

true but neither does passport stamps. It only prove the person visit, or pictures they only prove the persons saw each other, or receipts that only prove the persons bought or did something together, or a joint lease on house that only prove they live at same place. or bank account that only proves they have money together in account Nothing really proves a marriage or relationship on its own. Spending time together only proves the persons know each other.

someone should include different type of evidence and if a birth certificate of a baby born to the couple is included it most likely will help to establish relationship

Well then I guess all the people who decide not to have children together don't have this so very important piece of evidence? My husband and I are NEVER having children together. It's okay for a couple not to. Really, having a child together is not an all encompassing piece of evidence, as it was made to show in that post, which was what I was pointing out. All of it together is what is needed, just like you pointed out. But no one piece or another sways, thats why you need to submit multiple pieces of evidence.

I never said it was an important piece of evidence. However if a couple have very little evidence but one of the evidence was a baby born to them that will probably increase their chances of approval should it? no it should not,. will it? most likely yes
