Finally out of AP after 6 weeks!

So my fiancé had his interview March 3, 2015 and we've been in AP ever since, until today when CEAC updated to READY. If you remember from one of my previous posts my fiancé brought the incorrect version of his birth certificate to his interview. He went alone, my presence wasn't required but in hindsight I'm sure if I went this would've never happened because he assured me he had the correct format but, whatever. It took an email from my congressman's office to the embassy to find out about the birth certificate. They never contacted us to let us know this and we had been waiting for nothing...

Anyway, he returned the required birth certificate on April 6, 2015 and by April 15, 2015 I got really anxious because they had not updated the status nor confirmed he brought the right birth certificate so I emailed my Congressman's office AGAIN. I just wanted to know if they received it and had not forgotten about us as we sat in AP. It was really beginning to put a strain on us and I was tired of waiting when others from DR are getting visas in three days from their interviews!

Yesterday, the liaison I've been working with from my Congressman's office emailed me the response she received from the embassy that they are just back logged but they did receive his new birth certificate but it could be 2-3 weeks more. I thanked her for inquiring and prepared to wait a few more weeks. Today, however, the status went from AP to READY. I strongly believe the inquiry helped our case. Our case was straightforward so I'm sure that's helped as well but the fact that I needed a Congressional inquiry every step of this AP nightmare is absurd. If your case is simple, I highly recommend putting your tax dollars to good use!

3/3/2015 - Interview (Approved)

3/4/2015 - AP

3/10/2015 - date updated, but still in AP

4/10/2015 - date updated, still in AP

4/16/2015 - Congressional inquiry; date updated, still in AP

4/17/2015 - READY!!!

Now I'm just waiting for the next steps! I hope the status updates to ISSUED next week! Hoping to catch a break!

Oh trust me I've been through all the AP topics too, and now my new obsession is searching the topics that talk about "Ready" and what happens next. I just want this "journey" to be over! ?
