you could use 2 hole punch..I personally recommend binder clips....thats what i used for mine...visa approved...anything easy to disassemble will be fine.

Be careful with two hole punching. We got our packet 3 in the mail yesterday, which included a copy of our approved I129F. On the copy there are visible punch holes at the top of the pages. We did not punch them, which means USCIS did. While I don't think it's a big deal either way, it may be better to just let them punch the pages once, themselves, rather than having a series of misaligned punch holes.

Binder clips worked for us and many others. Just don't use staples :)

The ones in the above post are ideal - secure and easy to work with.

Off topic, but ChEd, congratulations on your visa being approved!

IMO, No, why mutilate the paperwork?

do you think it matters to them if you do or not?

Yes

What's the general recommendation for assembling everything together?

Paper clips and binder clips only.

Just use paperclips to keep things together, and slide all the papers into a large envelope for mailing. No need to go through the extra time and effort to hole punch, and definitely don't use folders or binders. Keep it simple.

Actually, USCIS appreciates if you do put the 2-hole punch in at the top of every page. From the link that Pitaya shared:

Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated.

I sent mine in a three ring binder, but put the pages in sleeves with a table of contents at the front of the notebook. Received approval no problems or RFE

That's how I sent mine too! Although, had I have read http://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-and-fees/general-tips-assembling-applications-mailing, I would have done it differently and more tailored to their preferences!

I would not. They are going to scan things. They are going to be pulling everything apart and putting it in the order they want it. Be organized but just clip everything together. You want to make it easier for the person receiving it. You don't want them opening it up and cursing you for making their next 15 minutes very frustrating!

I went to an office store and bought a 15-tab index and a light paper/report cover. On the index, I included the title of everything in that tab and made sure each tab only had one specific thing to match the fiance visa requirements. For example, each form had it's own tab: the biographic forms with the passport photos attached (I think I stapled the passport photo book that I got from Walgreen's to each respective form), all the documents that were for proof of meeting in the same tab, and so forth.

I was going to binder clip it, but my clip wasn't large enough. The report cover was enough, but a rubber band wouldn't hurt!
