Question - Should I mention I met my fiancee on eHarmony? and this is not considered an IMB, correct?

Hi, like my title question asks - Should I mention in my I-129f packet that I met my fiancee on eharmony.com? I am not sure if they want to know how everyone initially met. As I understand, eharmony is not considered an IMBRA - is this correct? thanks

You can say met online, not lying if you do that. Look at the terms of service for eharmony and it will state if they are or aren't a imb. But no thery aren't. No need to mention the site at all.

I don't think its necessary to mention eharmony at all...you could just simply say you two met online

as for your second question...its not under IMBRA, just a dating site.

Lately I've seen quite a few RFE's where people are having to show that the website they used is not an IMB. If you do mention it, make sure to put a print out from their website stating that they are officially not an IMB.

I think you should mention E Harmony. Since a lot of adjudicators are looking to see that the site is legit and not some fly by night operation, the fact that it has such a big name like E Harmony should be seen as something good.

I don't know... If I had to refile the petition, I would have not mentioned meeting online. We used a free community type dating site, and I honestly wrote about it, and now I am on my 4th week waiting for the response to RFE that demanded the consent that doesn't exist...

They say- be honest. Whatever. Why? To create idiotic problems? I mean, I respect IMBRA, it was created to protect women against abusive situations, but now it is being used completely inappropriately.

They don't even bother to check (and I gave the link to the site and all information). They use this law against us now.

At this day and age when half of my USC meet each other online (no foreign fiancees involved), you would think they would do a workshop or something, educating everybody to differentiate between IMB and dating sites. ...But no, we are supposed to be 'honest', and they don't even bother...

Who cares how you originally met! If you met in person and established relationship in real life, I would say- don't risk it. Do not create problems for yourself.

Just my honest opinion.

Being honest doesnt mean you have to disclose everything..disclose what needs to be disclosed..USCIS is only asking how you "met in person" within the previous 2 years and not where or how you first met..no need to feed USCIS with info they are not requiring.

I just joined. What's an IMB? I said we met on a dating website, in September, 2014. I also illiminated eHarmony because we bypassed it right away, and I cancelled my account. Now I'm concerned that I will have to send documentation of the site we met on, and I won't have it. Feeling anxious and stuck.

I read another post where someone had to document it, and I'm afraid I could have given information that potencially creates a road block and rejection of my fiance's visa.

My petition was received at the processing center December 29th, 2014. Waiting for initial determiniation and so stressed.

At worst they will ask for a request of evidence that the site is not a international marriage broker (imb). Eh armory is not so us you do get a letter asking about it, just write a quick letter explaining the site you met on and also send a copy of theirterms of service that state they are not an imb. Yoy won't get rejected for that abd may hold up your petition by a few weeks around 2.

I think it's best if you mention it because then they know it's not an imbra website. If you say "we met online" and then don't specify where, they might ask more about it.

Me and my fiance wrote that we met online through a dating site called OkCupid.com and then mentioned when we actually met for in person for the first time. We did not give them a link and we were fine.

No need to mention it at all. You only need to disclose how you met IN PERSON, not about the totality of your relationship. You can leave that for the embassy interview. However, if you want to include a brief timeline of your relationship, simply mention you met online...that's it.

In fact, for the I-129F, the only thing you need to write will fit in that tiny box on the I-129F form: WE MET ON [date] AT [place].

Aren't we talking about the letter where you write down how you met etc? Our letter is about a page long. :P
