A lawyer is such a waste of time and money. Now, we used a visa company that was only a few hundred dollars in Cebu Phils. and they were well worth the money. They did everything and perfectly!

As for divorce decrees, if you were married 2, 3, 4, times.,.,.,.,they want ""ALL"" decrees, certified copies.

As for meeting on-line.,.,.,not sure about that. Met my wife accidentally, she was shift manager at the resort I was staying at, I went there to see another gal,.,..,.,.but sure glad I met my wife.,.,she is a "jewel!"

Some other folks were discussing the same website just recently: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/544788-rfes-for-filipinocupidcom/

Hey it's me, lol. Just go to the link inside that thread and since you already put the site down print out their terms of service and highlight the correct area. Basically just follow what I said in that thread.

Oh and I'm sure you firgured it out by now, but lawyer's are a waste for 98% of petitions.

Thank you!

Do i have to get it notarized by a lawyer?

Nothing needs notarized in the whole process.

Your list is EXACTLY why so many of us encourage people to NOT USE LAWYERS unless they have a legal need to.

As for divorce decrees, yes, you need any and all of them. What if the first marriage wasn't actually ended and nobody was paying attention the second time around. He could still be married to his first wife which means he is ineligible to marry you. I know that is likely never the case but it's pretty simple. You can't assume just because there was another marriage that you can prove is over that the first one was over as well.

Fire the lawyer. They don't even know the I-129F requirements.

The instructions clearly state to submit them all, and the statements of intent from both of you.

a. If either of you was married before, submit evidence that all prior marriages have been terminated. Evidence of
termination of prior marriages may include a divorce decree, or an annulment or a death certificate issued by a
competent civil authority.
b. Submit evidence that you and your fiancé(e) intend to marry within 90 days of your fiancé(e)'s entry as a K-1.
Evidence of your intention to marry may include a statement of intent to marry.

Thank you guys for all your support! We only thought of hiring lawyers before because we're both busy at work. We don't have much time to gather documents, read everything we have to know and other stuffs. But, because the lawyers took a lot of time to prepare our papers, I stop working and just focus on my papers.

As for the IMB, I'm going to print the terms of use and I already emailed the customer service of filipinocupid about the issue, I will also print their reply.

For the Intent to Marry, is it okay if me and my fiance's letter of intent are the same? Like we're just going to edit the names?

For the Intent to Marry, is it okay if me and my fiance's letter of intent are the same? Like we're just going to edit the names?

See here for sample forms: http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Yes It is considered as IMB.. we met online as well but when we filed he wrote a letter that we met online at we took a screenshot of our online account and sent it as well..

Letter of intent to marry it is for the both of you.

Divorce decree, yes you should declare the 2 divorces and have a supporting documents with it (divorce decree).

=everything you sent to the USCIS doesn't need to be notarized

;PS: My husband and I didn't get any lawyer before because of how much it'll cost us... (that attorney isn't very helpful,I'm sorry)

goodluck..

I know this is a self help site so the antagonism towards lawyers is to be expected. However, if you find a good lawyer who specializes in immigration law it can save you lots of hassle. Our lawyer helped us immensely so I think it is unfair to throw them all under bus. I did my research on him before hiring him so I knew what I was paying for.

Thank you guys! I just print out a copy of the terms of use of filipinocupid and highlighted the terms that it is not an IMB or connected to any of those. I'm still waiting for the reply of the site regarding this matter, and will print that as well.

But, one more question... with regards to the Declaration of how we met, do I have to sign it too? Or only his signature?

Hi guys! We received the RFE today. They need 3 things:

-divorce decree of 1st marriage (he was married twice and doesn't have a copy of the 1st divorce decree, we asked the lawyer if they still need the 1st decree, they said no, so we just send the latest divorce decree and HELLO rfe!)

-Intent to marry letter (I asked the lawyer if I still need to make an intent letter, they said no, only my fiance will do it,so HELLO rfe again!)

-IMB certificate (this one is a little odd, we wrote on the application that we met online, it's on FILIPINOCUPID.COM, is it considered as an IMB?)

Please help me on how to deal with the intent letter and the IMB thing... thank you!

And also...

He needs to get the divorce decree in Hawaii, he sent a request a month ago, because he's doubting that he still need the 1st divorce decree. How long does it take to get a divorce decree in Hawaii, my fiance lives in Montana now.

Hello !! sorry for all the RFE i had one. Ours was because i didn't include a letter of intent from my fiancee i only included mine so yes you need from both and sign from both. and also agree with making new ones when you get to the interview process. Also i didn't get a RFE but i did include my divorce decree i would also suggest including both just better safe than sorry. Sorry i cant help with the IMB. hopefully this helped somewhat. Good Luck !!! & your lawyer seriously is making this alot harder for you stick to VJ this site is BEYOND AWESOME WITH AMAZINGLY HELPFUL PEOPLE !!!!! :goofy:(L):dancing:

If you dont have any red flags, then you can do it yourself. No need for lawyers. You are paying lot of money and the guy already got you 3 RFEs! VJ was tremendous help for me and my now husband. This site gives you all the info you need. If you keep using that lawyer, keep an eye OPEN. If he says something is not necessary then SEND it anyways.
