Mailing address vs. residence address - not all forms have mailing address section...concerns

Hi all,

About to start the K1 Visa process, yay! But, I currently live in an apartment that's been having an issue with mail theft/loss, and I might be moving in a few months when my lease is up anyhow. I was hoping to use a PO Box as a mailing address because of this, but many of the forms do not actually have sections for a mailing address that is separate from the residence address (ie: I-485 for adjusting status does not have this).

I am assuming that these forms where they do not have mailing address, they are wanting the residence address? If that's the case, does that likely mean they'll try to send it there (to the residence address) instead?

If anyone has any experience and/or tips with using a different mailing address vs. residence address, that would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a mailing box with UPS and I didn't have any problems getting my mails. Whenever you move, go onto the USCIS website to fill out the change of address form... Good luck :)

Thanks for your reply!

I've seen many people post on here that even after submitting a change of address form...things got mailed to their old address, and while I'm sure that doesn't happen all the time, it's happened enough to concern me :(

Also looking into whether UPS or USPS would be a better option, glad to hear the UPS is working fine.

You could just get the mail box for a year from UPS and you'll be fine and since you'll be moving, you could use your parents address as the home address until you get your apartment. After your approval & NVC, you shouldn't be getting any more mails anyways so you'll be fine until AOS :)

My parents aren't really fond of my fiance (or specifically, his ethnicity), so unfortunately I can't use their address :(. If I could, I wouldn't be considering a PO Box in the first place probably.

Glad you've had good luck with UPS and for sharing that with me, especially since in my area most the USPS boxes are apparently already taken.

I'm sorry to hear that. Go ahead and get the mail box as your mailing address and use your current address or a relatives/close friend for the home address until you're settled into your own place then update your address. Hope everything works out for you & your fiancé:)
